Re: Effects of Decanters

Do all decanters have lead? I use one for my regular drink that is always stocked. I never knew that. Not all of them, just ones that specifically say "Lead-crystal." These tend to be really heavy, but really shiny. I have several cut-glass decanters that contain no lead, but they don't seem as fan...

Re: Cheers to Conan

Who wants ANOTHER late-night show? Matt Groening and Seth MacFarland need to be recruiting Conan. He has the ability, experience, and edge to restore The Simpsons to their former glory. If he joined Seth MacFarland, it would make Family Guy an unstoppable powerhouse on FOX for the next 10 years.

Effects of Decanters

I began collecting decanters over the summer at the local flea market. I've got 9 right now, different shapes, textures, and a mixture of lead-crystal & glass. I haven't the chance yet to fill them, but I'm contemplating a collection of med-to-high-end, across-the-range booze to fill them. I also pl...

Re: The Maxims of Manhood

Hahaha I forgot to read his bio on the back:

"Jeff Wilser ........ A former USMC Reserves squad leader, Wilser has been a regular online contributor to sites like GQ, MTV, and VH1, ..."

Well. That explains a lot.

The Maxims of Manhood

Straight out of the book by Jeff Wilser: "Maxim #9: Celebrate Birthdays like you celebrate Tuesdays." (And as any drunkard knows, Tuesdays seem to last forever.) "Maxim #37: No straws, cherries, or umbrellas." In this section: "Ordering Chamagne - especially when unexpected - adds panache to any Tue...

Doesn't this belong in "The Pub" forum? Unless of course you have some quotes to with this....?

Re: Cheers to Conan

Maybe we'll get lucky and Conan will go back to writing for "The Simpsons." Boy, has that show gone downhill since he left.

Beer and breakfast burritos. Or jaegerbombs and carne asada fries. Sake bombs and spicy tuna rolls. Cinnamon Toast Crunch and SoCo.

Bring it on.

Re: Flat Screen TV's Destroying our Drinking Habitats?

If it's busy enough, there are bracketed tournaments so it's not a "winner stays forever" kind of atmosphere. It forces you to drink and mingle in your down time before your next match. The playing field is level when the sharks are schmammered. As an ok-to-semi-decent player, I actually prefer the...

Re: Flat Screen TV's Destroying our Drinking Habitats?

I frequent a pub that only has one TV. It's a flat screen, but mostly because those old CRT's are so damn heavy. The TV only shows local sports or rugby, per the owner. The best part about the place is it offers several free games. It has Washers, a metal-tip dart board, and a chess/checkers set; al...

Re: fastest chug time

Four 12oz beers in 3 seconds. My buddy, bless his soul, constructed a pressurized beer bong. It had: -the pressure chamber of a potato gun, equipped with a minuture bike pump and pressure gauge. -clear, plastic flex tubing (kinda like the stuff for a spa) - pvc valve on the end to release the flow 4...

Re: its -5, -20 with windchill

Jesus Christ. It's 50 degrees here and I'm freezing. I'm a little girl when it comes to cold weather, but I bet a lot of cold weather folks couldn't handle the 110 degree summers we get here either. Exactly, bunch of tourists. Milwaukee started at -10 this morning and is up to 6 now. I found a plac...
