Joshua Redman, live at the Village Vanguard. And the rain falling down on a hum drum town.

Wow. This has more rules than a strip club. I always thought a bender was when you came to in a different city with a hooker and a tatoo and no idea how any of you came to be there.

Re: What's the worst beer you've ever tasted?

Buckhorn. Of course, it was only $1.50 a sixpack (circa 1984) so I guess I shouldn't kvetch.

Gotta love it.
Yep and the $2 happy hour at Minneapolis' Figlio's is a very wonderful thing. And unlike some joints every beer on tap is included in that $2 bargain price. I'm partial to Bell's Two Hearted Ale, but they've got some other good pours as well.

Re: Scotch Drunkards - Isle of Jura

http://www.whisky-distilleries.info/Images/Isle-of-Jura.jpg How does this stuff stack up to other cheap scotches? Should i just go with speyburn or JWB instead? Jura is where Orwell wrote most of "1984." And it's one of my favorite scotchs as well. It's similar to Laphroaig and the other Islay sing...

Re: Music to drink to

I usually listen to jazz while I'm drinking, but right now I'm enjoying the musical stylings of the Cowboy Junkies.

Sadly, it was not to be. Daly should remember to take the olive out of his martinie before drinking it. (Choke!)

Re: Did Andy ever bang Ms Crump?

I think all married couples had twin beds until the Brady Bunch. I don't want to think about Andy banging Helen Crump. I would have dumped her for one of the Fun Girls. Hi, doll! Am I nuts or was Howard Sprague gay? Not that there's anything wrong with it!

I'm not sure what the difference between a "dive bar" and "a modest neighborhood establishment" is. I think most would refer to my favorite bars as dives though. Moby Dick's was a dive bar; Eli's is a modest neighborhood establishment. Dive bars can be a lot of fun, but you don't have to watch your...

Be sure to hit the Red Dragon & CC Club on Lyndale Ave. I also recommend Lyle's on Hennepin & Franklin. I think they've reinstated the free lunch of chicken wings, herring & government cheese @ 6 pm.
