Re: Rediscovering scotch whisky

I've had a good christmas as far as acquiring new whiskies goes, first up my dad brought me 2 bottles of bowmore 15 yr old back from a trip to islay, then I used the discounts in the supermarkets to get a glen moray, glen grant & glenfiddich 12yr old very cheaply, and I was given a dalmore 12yr old ...

jersey sour

2 shots calvados (cider brandy) - or applejack
1 shot lemon juice
half shot sugar syrup
half an egg white
dash angustoras

normally only drink whisky or brandy sours, this is different, the calvados gives it a dry sensation inaddition to the sourness

It does look like a re-label, and the aldi chain don't do any known brand spirits https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/167390_175068399197891_175067715864626_352564_3697152_n.jpg there's four roses or wild turkey both located in lawrenceburg, so maybe its one of theirs. can't see why...

Re: Bourbon

picked up a bottle of "Clarke's 1866 old kentucky straight sour mash bourbon whiskey" in a euro discount supermarket chain (ALDI) for £10.99,- 40%abv - tastes ok for cheap whiskey, better with a bit of water than neat though there's nothing too harsh about it. supposedly made by Clarkes distilling C...
