Re: Anyone ever work at a liquor store?
I'm working part time at a convenience store that has a small liquor section and a walk-in beer cooler. My first duty when I come on shift is to stock the singles. Needless to say, a couple of those find their way down my throat while I'm getting my work done. I don't get a discount and I wouldn't d...

Re: The Morning Beer
It has been awhile since I have taken the old lady out for breakfast, I had friday off and the kids were in school so I decided to take her to my favorite pub which has a little dinner attached to the back. It is some damn good food too. So its about 8 oclock, I make my order and also a budwiser, t...

Re: Drunken stewards and stewardesses sparked uproar
I couldn't agree more. Just because someone has a stick up their ass is no reason to spoil everyone else's good time. Life's too short to listen to these "nanny-minded" whiners.

Re: Movies We'd Like to See Again
The drinking-related movies that I can watch over and over are Barfly and Leaving Las Vegas. And no, I don't care that Nicholas Cage's character dies at the end. He dies drunk off his ass while a hot prostitute is riding his shvantz. I can only hope that my death is as eventful as that. Non drinking...

Currently reading a collection of essays by James Baldwin. I'd recommend his novel "Go Tell It on the Mountain" to anyone.

Patchez, I love ya, but damn... this sounds like music for old hippies.Patchez wrote:Sorry to drop more but, I'm drinking and my song pattern seems to be a shotgun. All over the place.

Re: "The Slow Death of Prohibition."
Actually, that big red dot in South Dakota is the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. It's Federal Territory. There's no prohibitions on gambling but, apparently, the Feds don't trust the Red Folks with alchohol. I think I might make my way up there with a truckload of liquor and guns.... you know... let...

Re: Properly Introduce Yourselves New People
Hey, I suppose I should take this opportunity to introduce myself. I'm Jim from Missouri. Like many in this forum, I'm a former soldier. I'm currently in school working on a Master's in Teaching. Outside of drinking, my favorite activities are reading, cooking and bicycling. It's been great finding ...

Re: Reading while drunk
I'm with Miklo and Viking on this topic. I usually write my papers while I'm drunk. It seems to somehow help the creative part of the process. However, I have to go back to edit the paper while undrunk to make sure it's technically sound. As far as reading while drunk, I've found that it depends on ...

Re: One month binge
Okay, I've taken a little time to read the post defining the "bender." I have to say that I didn't meet all the criteria for a true bender during that year-and-a-half period I wrote about. It was just a year-and-a-half of experiencing the drunkard lifestyle. There were no blackouts, no injuries, and...

Re: One month binge
This may not be the right forum for this question but I'm thinking along the same lines as Boozer right now: What exactly constitutes a "binge?" The longest I've gone without a dry day was a little over a year and a half, from October 2008 until May 2010. I can't say that I ever blacked out during t...

Re: This is what the drys just don't get
Beer brings more people together than sex. I've shared my beer with WAY more people than I've shared my willie. And I think I've got my priorities in order.

Re: 5 Beers No Man Should Drink...
I guess Natty Light didn't make the list because you should have stopped drinking it well in advance of turning 25. I'd say 19 or 20. I was chatting with a beer distributor the other day and he mentioned that bars are really digging the whole craft beer thing because it makes the margins insane. A ...

Hey J, Trust me... you're always better off waking up alone. Hopefully without your store of booze depleted.
