Re: Blackout Island Tiki Lounge

Sorry about taking so long to post. Last Saturday, I thought I burned out the touchscreen on my phone, but it's fixed now. (And now, a special behind the scenes "Making of Blackout Island." When I saw the Shit Talkers Bar and Grill thread, I knew I wanted a bar thread of my own. As I was surfing thr...

Re: Does yuor bar have snacks?

At Blackout Island, our complementary bar snacks are Honey (Bourbon)- Glazed peanuts and popcorn (in true Blackout Island practice, Frenchy made the honey bourbon glaze that doesn't cook the alcohol off, so the the bar snacks help to get you drunker, instead of sopping up the booze).

Re: Shit Talkers Bar and Grill

(Baddie, you don't need to go to the Russian Mob for spotted dick. The International Grocery store in the mini-mall across the street from Blackout Island has plenty. It's where we get the Ribena for our Blackout Deluxe.)

Re: Shit Talkers Bar and Grill

Apology accepted, Thirsty. And thanks for the giant tiki; it'll be just the thing as the centerpiece of our soon to be open patio (and smoking lounge) in the back. Since the only viewing out back is of the self-storage units behind the Stickitt Inn, it'll definitely be needed. And Artie, you forgot ...

Re: Shit Talkers Bar and Grill

Now Thirsty, is trash talking really necessary? There's plenty of room in this town for all of us. You don't hear me talking shit about Shit Talkers, do you (and they don't talk shit about Blackout Island, since plenty of our customers end up at Shit Talkers to wake up. One hand scratches the other'...

Re: Blackout Island Tiki Lounge

In my last post at Shit Talkers, I mentioned that the gang of German Goths who trashed the tiki bar at Shit Talkers came over here to Blackout Island, looking to start trouble, and how we fought back by giving them free house specialty cocktails, carried them off to the Party Room, and photographed ...

Re: Blackout Island Tiki Lounge

And while we're on the subject of gambling, here's a couple of announcements from our gaming manager, "Two Ton Tony." First, in celebration of one of Two Ton Tony's relatives entering the video slots and poker business, Blackout Island will be installing video slots and poker machines starting Monda...

Re: Your #1 Booze flick

My favorite drinking movies? #1 would be Animal House, of course. #2 is Strange Brew, the Bob and Doug McKenzie movie. A close third is Swingers. After that is Weird Science with a,couple of funny drinking scenes. The first one was when Kelly LeBrock took the two geeks to a blues club. The bartender...

Re: New to The Board? Then introduce yourself here...

A John Lee Hooker is "one bourbon, one scotch, and one beer." A Deluxe version is higher shelf brands. In my case, a Maker's Mark, a Johnny Walker Black, and a MGD.

Re: Blackout Island Tiki Lounge

This Friday and Saturday Night is our Casino Night and Poker Tournament here at Blackout Island, raising money for one of our favorite charities (and many of our customers as well), the Free Clinic in the mini-mall next door. For those of you unfamiliar with charity casino nights, let me point out s...

Top man, Squire.

And a warm MDF welcome to you, Diva. Just so you know, being a woman (and a pretty one at that, judging by the photos) doesn't excuse you from the "new guy buys" policy; we're all about the equality thing here in this regard. I'll have another John Lee Hooker Deluxe, please.

Re: Blackout Island Tiki Lounge

Like I told Pan earlier, the sound system's hooked up an iPod with a pretty diverse musical line-up. Of course, it wouldn't be a proper tiki bar if we didn't have plenty of the classic exotica songs by Martin Denny, Les Baxter, Pres Parado and the like.

Howyadoin, Squire! Welcome aboard! Don't be shy when it comes to posting in these here forums. And in the MDF tradition, new guy buys a round. I'll have a John Lee Hooker Deluxe: an Evan Williams, a Johnny Walker Black, and a PBR.
