Re: Drinking in the Military

The Mid 80's in which i served in the Air Force saw the death of the two drink lunch toward the end of my hitch. I saw the writing on the wall, not to mention on an Article 15 and a few LORs, this may not be the best career choice for a lush. Well to be honest..the Air Force was even seeing the dea...

Re: The Dive Bar Debate

For me...one of the first things I look for are true alcoholics who are regulars..to see if it qualifies. I don't mean functioning/CEO alcoholics. I mean real, down and dirty, waiting on their next VA/pension/disability check. Alcoholics whose crows feet around their eyes and mouth tell of a live ha...

Flyers fan myself but I do like the Olympic games. I kinda miss the days before the pros joined but the games are better now. Though the USA gets pummeled a bit.
I completely agree...I liked it better just having our various countries juniors/university ranks filling out the rosters.

Re: Drinking in the Military

As an ex sailor and ex soldier this saddens me. It's my take that the military has chosen the wrong fork in the road on just about every single decision when it comes to personnel in the last 20 years or so. When I was a submariner in the early 90's, not only was getting hammered permitted, the god ...

I routinely drink at Magnum's old hangout...the "King Kamehameha Club" ..oceanside by the pool.

Olympic Hockey?

Any other die hard hockey fans out here? Although I find the European style ref'ing in the olympics(penalties doled out for good, clean hits) to be tiresome, I do still enjoy the games.

Welcome Scott..

I'm pretty new here myself, having just discovered MDM last year. Now I have a subscription and lots of back issues. Funny stuff right up my alley...

Re: Do You Remember Your First Drink?

Hamm's is still available?!?!?! Didn't they stop making it? Is this a "comeback" or has it been in production all along?!?!

If it is a comeback is it still the same taste as 1977 or like Primo and other "comeback" nostalgia beers it's completely different?

Re: Do You Remember Your First Drink?

First "drink" was the rest of various unfinished screwdrivers(I remember them being huge in the early 70's) hanging about on lawn chairs and metal outdoor tables at our multi-family block parties(also much bigger in the 70's). My parents were not big drinkers but the white trash family across the st...

Recovering from gulping down terrible beer and good single malt all day and night in front of a sporting event to which I was indifferent.

Is it just me?

But I get headaches no matter what. I mean even if I don't get drunk..if I just have 1 beer an hour and am never even buzzed..I wind up with a headache. If have a few whiskeys neat..I have a headache. If I have 4 glasses of red wine..I have a headache. I used to think it was strictly a hydration iss...
