Ah, memories. First time I ever got drunk. Bottle of George my friend Tim had pilfered from his parents' ample liquor stock. We were 14 or 15 and damned if we didn't finish the fifth while fishing. I can't remember if we caught anything. I doubt it. I puked in the bathtub at home, then went to sleep...

Lucid Brand Absinthe

I got a bottle of Lucid absinthe via a store in New York State. Pretty good stuff. I think I prefer the Czech style, but since the Lucid is legal, it's much easier to get. ;) About 120 proof. I'm just sitting here drinking it straight. Nice anise/herbal flavor. No artificial coloring or over-sweet f...

It's good stuff. We buy it in Canada when we're up there. Got what's left of a bottle downstairs, actually. Time to stock up!

The other day my wife said something like, "What the hell happened to the Zubrowka?" Ha! Oops.

I'm a fan of Tony's too. I read Kitchen Confidential. I enjoy his tv appearances. He's okay in my book. He knows his way around a liquor cabinet and can cook up a blue streak. 8) Hell, on Saturday my wife and I were eating breakfast at a restuarant and she ordered eggs Benedict. I said, "Gaaah! Holl...

ROTFLMAO

Go see her, but use the "smell test" like they taught you in the Navy.

Not the one I picked, but the definitely the most hilarious.

Good place to eat.
Yep! They're getting better with the beer, too. The best selection in the city as far as I'm concerned.

Cheap vodka + Kangaroo = Vodka you can actually drink.

Christ, I should go drink some vodka. I just emptied my McClelland's Islay. My wife re-stocked our flavored vodka supplies. Surely she meant for me to drink it.

Right?

I'm a bit late responding, and admittedly I haven't slogged through the thread, but I hope you got through it okay. Our dog gives us more joy than a fifth of good scotch, and I dread the day we have to follow your path. It goes with the territory, I suppose. A toast to our four-legged buddies... *cl...

I've Been Served!

So I'm sitting at one of Burlington Vermont's finer brewpub-type establishments (American Flatbread) tonight and my wife arrives to share a couple of pints and a pizza. She's driving (and about half my weight) so there's a limit to how much she can drink. By the time she showed up, I was ahead of he...

I invented this drink. I'm probably not the only one: Mix equal parts with vodka. Shake over ice. Strain into martini glass. "Absentini" or "Absente Minded" (what do you think is the better name?) Absente is not real absinth(e). I just polished off a bottle last night. For some reason I always wake ...

I've been making random drinks from a tiki drinks book tonight. (needless to say i'm half in the bag already) Right now, I'm drinking this: 7 ounces dark rum 8 ounces cream of coconut 2 ounces fresh lime juice combine in blender. fill with ice. blend until slushy. serves 3 to 4, or in my case, 1! It...

Booze Filter!

Have you people heard of the Gray Kangaroo? My wife's friend bought it for her as a birthday present. Testimonial... When we were in Pennsylvania a couple of months ago, we bought two jars (yes, jars) of this horrid stuff called Georgia Moon Corn Whiskey. It's foul, foul stuff. Trust me. I'm as much...
