Re: What are you drinking right now?

Kostritzer. German dark lager. Tall boys are $26/case at my local. Good beer for the price.

Drink ideas, please...

We're having a get together over the weekend, and one of our goals is to get rid of liquors we don't drink (to make room for more of what we DO drink). Any drink ideas using the following with limited mixers: Raspberry sorbet vodka Appleton rum Seems like a simple rum punch would work, but other ide...

Re: Need new house beer

not mid brand but Hamm's is a solid low budget surprisingly tasty beer. 15 bucks a 30 rack here in PA. Have you tried the EW Bottled in Bond? yet? a buck or two more and more rye forward than the black label. A: I've had Hamms, it's decent for the price. But I don't think they sell it in these part...

Need new house beer

For years, my house beer has been Yuengling Lager. It's a solid lager, nothing fancy, $18/case for cans. A good all-purpose beer for any occasion. Good in the shower after hockey, good enough for the dinner table. However, due to their CEO's politicization of the brewery, I may boycott. This isn't a...

At the risk of angering my friend Dingbat, I agree with you. My buddy is a solid drunkard himself, he'll be happy with any of these options.

Rum advice. And hello again!

I haven't been here in ages, I missed you guys! I have a question about rum: I've got a buddy that loves kraken spiced rum. I'm getting him a housewarming gift of Blackheart (since everyone else will get him kraken and I'm a contrarian). How do the two compare? Also, is there a mobile version of thi...

Seagrams VO vs J&B

So I recently acquired a bottle of Seagrams VO and a bottle of J&B. I'm a bourbon and rye drinker, but want to work my way into scotch, especially since I was gifted a bottle of Macallen 18. In the idea of educating my palette to appreciate the good stuff, should I start with the J&B?

Re: What are you drinking right now?

Never heard of you before, but look forward to hearing more. Bourbon, always bourbon. Maker's, if I have a choice. Just showed up the other day actually. And speaking of MM, any of you tried Rebel Yell? It's a wheated bourbon along the lines of Evan Williams as far as price vs quality. And yes, I h...

Re: Rye

Long time coming, but I finally got my first bottle of Old Overholt. While a little less potent than I though at just 80 proof, it tastes pretty damn good. For $10.99/bottle, I'm happy with this as my house rye, with the occassional bottle of Bulliet rye as a treat.

Re: A nice haul

Wait, please...I am confused. You still have all this hooch, after the housewarming party? Either you are a sneaky host (stashing the good stuff and serving a "Punch" made out the cheapest well liquors and wines), or your friends are total lightweights. After the keg of yuengling and the bottle of ...

A nice haul

For our housewarming/engagement party, the booze we received was: 15 bottles of assorted wines, Jameson 12 Year Special Reserve, Macallen 18 Year, multiple bottles of Fireball, Sierra Nevada Porter 6pack, Yuengling 12pack, JD Red Stag bottle, and a Busch neon sign. Plus various gift cards totaling $...

Re: Rye

Old Overholt is my go to rye. Old Overholt it is. Go to the whiskey aisle and start looking near your feet. It should be around there. It's good eatin'. Knob Creek rye is damn fine, but pricier. Rye whiskey is so hip, right now, you need ill fitting clothes and plastic rim glasses just to drink it....
