Re: What are you drinking right now?

With the end of the busy season the corporate overlords have seen it fit to end the mandatory overtime, and so tonight it's been celebrational libationals. Two dry martinis, and then a variation on a Hanky Panky. Two parts each gin (Bookers), rye (Sazerac), and sweet vermouth (Punt e Mes) with a das...

Re: What are you drinking right now?

I sadly did not make it to the local redneck dive bar. But I'm two Manhattans into the evening. The first with freshly bought Sazerac Rye and Punt e Mes and this fancy Bitter Truth Professor Jerry's ... something... chalice? bitters. And the second with Bulliet bourbon but otherwise unchanged. Wait,...

Re: What are you drinking right now?

Gin martini, Gordon's and Dolin. Three olives for color and crunch. Tomorrow night I'm definitely going to my local redneck dive bar (usually my regular haunt but I'm working so much this time of year) for the first time in over a month. Possibly even before work for their secret Friday steak lunch.

Re: What are you drinking right now?

Trying a can of Crafters Union "Daring & Elegant" red blend wine in a can I bought on a whim at the gas station on my way to work. It's pretty good, actually. Probably isn't meant to be drank chilled but it's chilly out it it was in my car for 12 hours. A not great but not bad end to a not bad but n...

Re: What are you drinking right now?

Right now: Manhattan with two shots Templeton Rye 4 year, two Bulliet Bourbon, and two Punt e Mes vermouth (plus some Peychaud's and two or three Luxardo cherries.) After this maybe another, similar. I don't think switching to scotch is ideal. Possibly a Martini. It just dawned on me that I might ha...

Re: What are you drinking right now?

That Templeton Rye does make a good Manhattan. Peychaud's too. You've got your taste together, Tips. Mille saluti. Thanks, Badfellow. These days I'm trying to drink for the taste as well as the effect. Tonight: a Manhattan (50/50 Templeton Rye 4 Yr and Bulleit Bourbon, Punt e Mes, Peychauds, Luxard...

Re: What are you drinking right now?

Ardbeg 10. It's been about a decade since I've had this one. A mighty return! That's my go-to these days. Tonight a bit of Templeton Rye 4 year and an Abita Christmas Ale. My plans for the day were scuttled by car problems; tomorrow I'm getting some vermouths and proper cherries to have a Manhattan...

Re: What are you drinking right now?

It's my Friday and tomorrow is your Monday. I pity the fools -- oh wait, I work 6 days a week. Spicy. Same here this time of year. Speaking of the Blues: any thoughts on the Reverend Blind Gary Davis? I'm a big fan of the pre-war Delta Blues. Speaking of the Booze: dry martini (not dirty today) fir...

Bermuda Triangle.

Tonight it's Ardbeg 10, my go-to scotch, drinking especially to celebrate Repeal Day! Cheers to you magnificent bastards.

Re: What are you drinking right now?

Dry dirty gin martini. I picked up a sixer of Terrapin Brewery Hopsecutioner on my way to work and may or may not break into that. Or maybe just stick to gin cocktails for the evening. This time of year I work six days a week, 60+ hours, and I haven't had time for a proper liquor store run. I really...

Re: What are you drinking right now?

Knappogue 12 — very nice. Jameson IPA Caskmates — terrible, no flavor, weak dram. That IPA Jameson was fairly disappointing. I have a vague memory of trying a stout edition Caskmates, I wanna say I remember liking it. Been just a little too long. I personally loved it, and I I'll you why: one of th...

Re: What are you drinking right now?

Tonight thus far: my riff on the Obituary cocktail: a three to one of gin and absinthe (or substitute, in this case Herbaint.) Might crack open a Lady Luck Imperial Red from Karben 4 before bed.
