I'm going to have to change my answer to Anchor Porter.

Ahhh, Skullspliter Ale! Fabulous beer. Anchor Porter is also good, I love Anchor beers.

The beer that comes to mind as the best taste is the first time I tried Leffe on tap at a bar in Montreal. I don't know what it was about that particular beer, but I remember exclaiming 'This is the best beer I've ever had!'

I know that I've said it before, but I'm really of the opinion that beer is just something to do between drinks.

Because we wanted an encore. Got a problem with that?

It's really hard to say which is best, but I do have 2 favorites that I don't get often enough. Rougue Nut Brown and Red Hook Double Black Stout. I see a lot of Rogue around, but it's usually Dead Guy and the Double Black Stout seems rather spotty. Sometimes I can get it, but most of the time not.

Rogue is pretty damned fine all around. I have not yet been let down by their stuff. Shakespeare Stout is probably my top favorite, but Dead Guy (in its older incantations) was really quality stuff too.

Whilst in Hawaii I had an ale from the Kona Brewing Co. - an odd place for a brewery but hey, Hawaiians like beer too. That was pretty nice stuff as well.

I saw ads for a new Bud swill called Anheuser World Select. I lucked out - Hawaii and NJ are the test markets, and I didn't try it out there. So I will force myself to sample it, you know, for scientific purposes.

On a happy note, a friend of mine wants to set up a homebrewery and make mead. I warned him it's not easy but I will gladly suffer through some failed batches if I must.

There are way too many to choose from. Plus its really hard to compare say a Stout to a Bitter. Two completely differant styles, but both absolutely delicious. However, I'll go for Rodenbach Grand Cru as my favorite beer. Its a Beligian Red Ale. A fruity nose, hardly any hops and a sour finish. Definately unlike any beer you've ever had. Here is a list of some other great beers:

Rouge (all, but Shakespeare Stout, Brutal Bitter and Dead Guy are the best)
Middle Ages Druid Fluid-perfect Barleywine. There other beers are great too.
Unibroue-Canada's best brewery check out La Finn Du Monde, Don De Dieu or Maudite
Savage: "Unkle Lemmy looks just like his avatar, and that is hawt. Also, he sends me a crate of bourbon every month and for this, when I die, he will inherit my castle in Savagonia, and my 72 virgins. (They are all good boys, and very hard workers.)"

With all due respect to UnkleLemmy, Rouge Brutal Bitter is quite exceptional, my favorite in the line-up.

As for Barlywines, well I once had a Sierra Nevada Bigfoot on tap at Brewsky's (NYC) that tasted like a fermented pine tree...deeeeeelicious. But don't waste your time with the bottled version, moist malted muck.

And of course Unibroue, gawd they can't brew a bad beer to save their lives. Every beer I've ever had from this brewery has been top-notch.

Hmm, maybe I should have removed the bottle cap stuck in my eye before posting, since after a second read it seems UnkleLemmy and I are in agreement with respect to the Brutal Bitter. Oh well off to find a beer.
