One of the last times I was there for Mardi Gras... we basically had a running riot. As the ex-pat on the inside track, I left the river bringing a handful of friends on a beer run, planning to return, drink, and attend the parade later in the afternoon. Our posse snowballed, recruiting all the punks we passed by and soon had no less than 50 punk rockers marauding through the French Quarter. "The cops were like "Oh shit, they're organized!" But really, it was just spontaneous.
