Also, a friend of mine who is a huge drunk tried Absinth with me and couldn't get more than a sip of it down because of the taste. He hated it and refused to drink it. It's not for everyone.

I'm an absinthe fiend. So far, all the absinths people here have listed are absolute crap. Try Pacifique out of Washington State or Walton Waters from New York state. Both are good. Also one from France called Vieux Pontarliar is good though a bit minty for some. I think part of it is that most Americans don't really like Anise (many prefer anus).
It's always a good day to get ripped!

I believe the amount of wormwood that is present in a particular absinthe accounts for it's potency and any debilitating side-effects.

I'm sure it's already been stated that the current day Absinth contains no womrmwood (the hallucinogen)
Regardless of that, the first (and last) time I had the stuff I pissed on the Texas Capital. The absinth I had was from Spain though. I suppose if you knew where to get it you could find some wormwood added

Spammer notwithstanding, this was a fun thread to re-read. Alot of posters who have left, passed on or just faded away on this one.

To Absent Friends.

Now off to ban the spammer. Maybe a warning since it was an absinthe spam? Nope. Off with it.

Can't say I've ever done the Absinthe thing. It was verboten for most of lifetime in these here United States. IIRC, the stuff they are selling now is kinda-sorta Absinthe. Be that as it may, as I understand it, its uber-sweet, so not really my thing.

All that said, is it worth a go?
