My sincere apologies, Mrs S. It must have been a dodgy cocktail olive that set me off.
I am very sorry for my treasonable statements. And errant nationalism. I recant everything.
May I have my drink back now, please?

I have a question. I haven't qutie devoloped a taste for the salty martins yet and most often get a twist. Martinis with a twist just aren't as cool are they? And I haven't just been imagining thoes looks have i? I had my first gibson not but about two months ago. maybe I should stick to thoughs. not that bad.

Get a professional to make your first one. Ask for it extra dry.

I don't think she's reading this board? I didn't even think she had a drink.Palinka wrote:My sincere apologies, Mrs S. It must have been a dodgy cocktail olive that set me off.

But if she is...
Fuck the queen.

My favorite! If you make your own, I suggest a few tips:
I always rinse my glass in cold tap water, shake off the excess and place in the freezer. I keep a couple in my freezer at all times. I use 4 ounces of gin (Bombay) and 1/2-1 tablespoon of vermouth (sometimes less vermouth, personal taste). I drop crushed ice, alcohol, in a shaker (makes it cloudy, but I like the look). Stirring never gets it cold enough. I shake (10-12 seconds), strain (discard the ice) into a cold glass. I peel a sliver of the skin of the lemon, careful not to cut into the lemon. The teeniest bit of juice will ruin the taste. I keep my lemon skins in the freezer. I rarely use olives.
