I know i'm diggin up old shit, but I am currently on a rum kick as well. The best rum in the world is Flor De Cana. One of my roommates in college was half Nicaraguan, and he would return to school with backpacks full of the stuff. The 8 and 12 year is as smooth and flavorful as the best Scotch or Bourbon, and you can drink it straight with no problems. It is by far the best booze I have ever had under the name 'rum'. The 4 and 5 year are excellent as well, but better for mixing. When you mix them, go easy on the Coke and make the drink with mostly club soda, this brings out the flavor of the rum more.
Flor De Cana 12 year is better then every other rum in the world, and to put ice in it almost feels like an insult to its quality.

Is it available in the States?

Yeah, its kind of scarce, but I've been able to find it in larger stores in Kentucky, Boston and NYC.

Absolutely - I'm a big fan of Goslings - everyone should try it if they haven't already.

I will have to agree with you. I ran across this while in Costa Rica. I'm not even a rum drinker and this stuff rocks. My friend is bringing 8 bottles back between him and his girl so I will be drinking it again soon.

Be careful though. If you're allergic to it like I am then you might break out in handcuffs.

ONce gave Gosling's Black Seal to my now late Dad for Christmas one year. I'll have to try it for myself. Oh yeah, my main liquor store, Westroads (about the only store open when I get off work) also has Gosling's Ginger Beer. The forecast for a future weekend will be Dark & Stormy ;D.
