How do you drink whiskey?

Post by Cowboy Joe »

For me, it's in a glass. Depending on the exact elixer at hand, I may add a little bit of water. And I mean a little. I think, technically, "whiskey neat" includes a drop of water, but with scotch I tend to prefer it as the bottle offers it. I like my gin ice cold, but I much prefer my whiskey at room temperature. Right now it's Knob Creek with a little spash of bottled water....

I'll drink whisk(e)y just about any way it comes. Especially if it's burboun, but more often than not I drink it neat or in a Manhattan. I prefer Sotch with just a few cubes of ice. Rye, when it's available, is for drinking neat and I generally don't drink much canadian. If I do, it's usually cheap shit that tastes better with some form of mixer.

When I´m not at the bar, neat. 1 icecube, maybe when at the bar...NEVER with coke or any shit like that (meaning Koka Kola) . Irish whiskey (mainly Bushmills or Tullamore Dew) usually tastes the best...but there´s no whisk(e)y I´m afraid of...bring it on...

With scotch, I go with it room temp and neat. SometimesI'll try a couple drops of water in an Islay to loosen it up a bit, but most times not.

I like to sip Bourbon the same way, but I like my Irish whiskey in a shot glass, unless I'm using it to bolster my coffee in the afternoon or if it's Jameson 1780, which I will sip with delight.

Totally agree with Knob Creek - love it.

With consummate pleasure.

Other than that, generally straight at room temperature form a highball glass. Occasionally shots, rarely on the rocks.

Scotch from a silver quaich, if at all possible. This reminds me...I need to go drink with the friend I gave a quaich to several years ago.

Rocks. I love the sound of the ice cubes clinking against the side of the glass. It's comforting.

Scotch, straight out the flask, hence my name sake. I can't fit a rocks glass in my back pocket.

I drink cheap bourbon with Coke, better bourbons and rye I start on the rocks and let em melt away with subsequent refills. Scotch and Irish usually on the rocks, but some of the higher proof Scotch I like neat.
