Ok, here goes AND IF ANYONE OF YOU BASTARDS MAKES FUN THERE WILL BE CURSES ON YOUR FAMILY"S HOUSES!!!!!!!! Anyway, living with two pretty straight laced teetotalling parents (the first of either of their respectable families of drunks) it was pretty tough in the early days to hide hooch. I have a feeling the knew I partied alot through high school, but possibly ignored it. How many of you have ever had to smuggle your party supplies out of your bunk like escape tools from a Nazi POW camp? Bottles stuffed under your mattress, top of closets behind old junk, leaving "the stash" at your friends house that was deserted by his dysfunctional dad? Later after moving to a different house before graduation back when, although we kept a keg in our shop on the property for my dad and a few of our friends and me and the pack were pretty much allowed free range, how many have ever kept your birthday present from your sibling (an iced down party ball) hid in your freaking closet under old clothes?!?!?! IM A FUCKING NEAT FREAK can you imagine how many unfolded clothes I had to neatly and strategically arrance around that fucker? How about the time I kept a case of Dickel No12 stashed in the recessed lighting next to the flourescent fixtures in my room? Now alot of you may laugh (remember curses on your houses) but I stayed at home to finish college after recovering for about a year after high school from a pretty bad wreck where i stayed absolutely slammed up until now. ive found over the years the best place to hide hooch is in plain sight. leave a plastic travel fifth in the bottom drawer of your tool box. at the back of your filing cabinet or desk drawer. the best I have found lately is to simply lock my bar up in my now emptry gun safe. empty only because due to the terms of my father's probation we cant have firearms in the house. So really theres no reason for anyone to go snooping in my gun safe right? the best though is to keep a line of bottles behind your blinds you keep constantly closed. Although it does fucking blow to have to keep sneaking booze around a damn wing of the house that should be rightfully yours!!! fuck, im graduating college finally after 7 years this may noone should be fucking with me about my boozing around here. jesus christ it blows to have to sneak booze into your house through your window like your 15 still.

Trust me, Im working on it. It basically comes down to needing to graduate...which enables me to get a job that will pay the rent on a place that affords the same luxuries as the old homestead. I mean, yeah...I have to sneak booze, and other illicit substances around like Im in Saudi Arabia, but at the same time...I still have it pretty good on my end of the house. Besides, they still turn their heads at what I can make seem like "moderate" drinking. Its just my definition of moderate and theirs is completely different.

I have a large bar in my home, with booze-related art on the walls. I carry a corkscrew and bottle opener on my keychain.

Oh, and an MDM flag flies from the front of my home.

What I'm saying, I guess, is that hiding booze isn't really a concern for me.

I hide my drinking as best as I can from my mom, mainly because I am living with her due to economic troubles, and she's awesome and I love her very much. BUT, she aint a drinker. She's intensely Catholic, and while she enjoys some wine now and again, she probably doesn't want to see her unemployed 28 year old son pounding beer and whiskey. So I try to hide it from her. And, again and again she finds evidence. Again, she is very cool about my situation, and maybe its my own Catholic guilt, and the fact that I am in a rather pitiful situation economically, but it makes me feel so fucking horrible when I see a huge bag of empty beers that I forgot to hide. And my mom has put them with the recyclables. Don't be scared, because I never would, but it makes me want to kill myself. Its a horrible fucking feeling. Anyways, I bring beers into my room with music equipment in such a way that she can't see em. I keep em cool by puttin em on the upstairs bathroom window sill and cracking the window. This hell will end soon, but as a Cape Codder, I will make no money until the summer, and I will take said money and move to Boston. Will most likely be poor there, too, but at least I won't be hiding my drinking from anyone. And there will be girls and stuff to do.

Other than the flag - I don't think the condo would let me - you're living in my house. The bar is almost 100 years old and makes a great conversation piece.

Hide booze? Well, I guess I "hide" it in food, though I make no secret of it. Did you know that a splash of bourbon added to a traditional cheesy, creamy scalloped potato recipe lifts it from the merely yummy to the absolutely divine?

I once had to physically hid my booze:

I was living with a co-worker who was from Minnesota. His new girlfriend had a friend fly down to visit. The friend was loud obnoxious and abrasive. She spent all the time she wasn't stuffing food or our booze(We had about 5 bills of liquor in the closet at the time) in her mouth making fun of the roommate and I. I give the witch credit, she could drink thought. She said she like whiskey and preferred shots. Then she got arrogant with me as I had Beam Black and not TJD.

The Black and the bottle of 12 year Van Winkle spent the week in my room.

After she left the roomie's gf said "She was giving you hints, why didn't you make a move"

I learned two things from this.

I love Bourbon

I don't get women

As for hiding my boozing from family? My last trip home was a trip from hell that ended up with me changing destination airports and catching a 2 hour shuttle ride to my Uncle's house. I got greeted by my aunt with a "Sorry your flight sucked, here's your Manhattan"
You know why I love Whiskey? It goes from recreational drug to prescription anesthetic at precisely the moment you realize it needs to.

Hiding the booze is not such a big problem for me. But those empty bottles.... ;)

When I buy my drinks (vodka most of the time cuz it looks like water and you can't smell it), the first thing I do is pour the vodka in empty water bottles or mix it with coca cola. But the empty vodka bottle pose a problem every single time! I don't drink every day (I guess about 3 days a week) but those empty vodka bottles are driving me crazy. Sometimes I dump a bottle or two in a public trashcan (wich is risky since it is illegal) but I can't keep solving the problem this way.

Stockpiling them at a hidden place in your house is just waiting for disaster to strike (my wife doesn't like it when I drink more than once a week,...but on that day I can get as drunk as I want). So is there a nice solution?

As for buying my booze. I try to switch stores as much as possible cuz I work and live in the same town and people tend to gossip a lot when they suspect that you are a "modern drunkard".

Sorry for the lousy English but I'm from Europe so I guess I've got an excuse (and if that doesn't do it,... I'll just put the blame on the alcohol).

And a question for Gin McGuinness,...is your avatar a picture of "the real you" cuz if that is the case,...then you're a pretty sexy drunkard. :)

Anyway, your English is fine and you can't understand half of the things writen here anyway because most everbody is hammered :) which is why we're here right?

It's not so much the pissing on the floor that my wife hates,... it's the foul mood when I have a hangover.
And by the way,.... if that is Gin McG,.....baby,.....let me be your groupie. ;)

BTW: Right now I'm goin trough a 12hr shift on vodka....it is pretty hard to balance the floating feeling. Not drunk enough to raise suspicion but drunk enough to get trough this boring day. ;)

Drunk Oggar has hidden booze from me. An inordinate number of partial bottles of liquor under the bed with the occassional beer hidden there as well. One day I'll travel back in time and do battle with that son-of-a-bitch.
