Well, if anyone would know, it'd be you. I've been on Black Maple Hill recently, it is startlingly smooth. I normally like a good kick in the pants type of drink, like a WLW or a Stagg, but this here is a great drinking Whiskey, you can sail evenly all evening. I must find out their secret. It's 95 proof too, wow. You'd never know it by the taste, it's like butter. This isn't one of those bottles that comes and goes, this is a permanent, top shelf addition to the home bar.
Casino...not to trespass on ivan's Bourbon thread, but have you had the Laphroaig Triple Wood? Really nice peat balance and unbelievably smooth at 96 proof (48% abv).

I have it, but haven't opened it yet. I'll give it a go tonight.

A pic of the Triple Wood and Black Maple Hill, I think I posted this last week, not sure.

The latest additions to my liquor cabinet.

The Maker's is a keeper on the mantle beside the signed bottle of Angel's Envy. The Old Weller Antique was a recommendation from the manager Chris and the Evan was a hand select batch that the three shift managers did. Chris, Scott and Tim have done this before with Buffalo Trace and Elijah Craig.

Totally digging the Buffalo Trace. Thanks for the tip, guys.

Makers with a purple seal? What bottle is that? I have not seen it at the local.

That is one of the lowered proof bottles that was put out before they did the right thing and raised it to original strength. Casino posted a pic of it with some scotch in the scotch thread. So when I saw it at my candy store, I snagged one as a war trophy and collector's item.

*edit* The seal is purple and black. Much the same colors of the Baltimore Ravens. Symbolising weaker, less potent things in both cases.

ps - sweet photo of an amazing stash of brown liquor. I had an Angel's Envy Old Fashioned last week. When the waitress delivered it, it looked so perfect, I sent Casino a pix of it to which he responded, "That looks glorious".

And it was.

Mostly a tequila drinker when it comes to pouring down the shots- -but in shots or straight (with 1 cube of ice) I go for a nice bourbon - -
All the aboved mentioned are nice choices - -
Hard to find here in southern Connecticut is Four Roses Small Batch> already sold out in freaking Fairfield County ! It is indeed the best Bourbon of the year (2012), but there’s nothing I can do at this point to obtain a bottle -For for those of you lucky enough to get one. This is a major accomplishment-enjoy

Necro because it need to be brought back to life.

Lots of new stuff on the market.

A current fav of mine, Willet Potstill Reserve. 94 proof. Brilliant. No way you can tell the proof. Vanilla and caramel softness to it. Slight spicey bite at the end.

Fantastic bourbon. and at 40ish bucks a clip, can't be missed.

Find this and drink it. That's all I can tell you. This is the smooooothnest Bourbon you will ever taste. Single barrel aged brew cuts out the collected barrel crap from Bourbon blends that are the commercial favorites.

The EW white label is now among the choir eternal. Great fucking deal. $23 buch Bottled in Bond so it has to 100 proof. Damn. 14 proof changes the taste profile of EW. Less sweet as the corn has been distilled off by a bit more. Then you notice the spice... did not realize there was that much rye in the EW mash bill. Digging the BiB.

Speaking of BiB I saw thew 10 year McKenna from Heavin Hill. Dear Bacchus they are doing it right. If you like the standard HH at 3 or 4 years what ever it is... this ... is ... so ..much... better. May be my new go to for $30 and under.
