Strangest drinks...

Post by BBoozer »

Greetings to all of you,

I am new to this forum, so I glady pass along a crate of the finest Belgian beer.

Some time ago, I was in Kazakhstan on a business trip. Some day, me and my Kazakh business partners drove into the mountains outside Almaty. This involved starting drinking vodka in the car at 10 am (OK, the driver did not drink). Then we had lunch in a yurt, which is a nomad's tent, and here we were served fermented horse's and camel's milk ( and I should add, more vodka). I have to say that those beverages were the strangest I have ever consumed. Of course, we also ate loads of horse meat. Now here's my question: what are the weirdest drinks you have ever drunk?

New Guy Buys...I'll have a Guinness, please.

For weird drinks off the top of my head, an after-hours, pot-luck concoction of tequila, vodka, gin, white wine and Gatorade was particularly memorable; insomuch as I can't remember what it tasted like. It was made from dressing-room remnants backstage at a music show in Austin TX @1985.

The strangest drink I've had have all been produced by myself I believe.

Cauliflower wine, onion wine, all sorts of shitty herbal ales. Bog myrtle and spruce infused moonshine etc.

I once made cheese and the whey that was left I threw into a bottle and fermented it, I only had a sip of this though(It was a very small batch too, something like a pint).
I also made a lame attempt at making some primitive late stone-age brew made by chewing and spitting barley in a bowl. But it wasn't really a success. I'm gonna try that again later.

The cauliflower wine was my first batch of anything. ever. It was so gruesome it became infamous in my hometown and somewhat legendary. I once gave a bottle to a friend who presented it to a wine expert without telling what it was. He immediately ran for the kitchen sink after tasting, and sweared it was the foulest thing he had ever tasted.

Another friend took a hearty mouthful then puked all over the bathroom, when he came out he tried to explain the taste to the others at the party but he started chocking before he could say anything and had to return to the loo.

Personaly I was out of cash and it was all I had to drink. I found that dissolving spoonfuls of sugar into the glass helped keep the crap down, but it was really equally unpleasant.

I tried a bit of Cynar once, the artichoke liquer. They told me it was an aphrodisiac. I've got a bottle of 160 proof Stroh rum which is just a big deal to me because it's illegal here and I had to buy it on the liquor black market.
