Nice selection of whiskies, Patchez.

Thank you peetie. It is small compared to Bar Casino but it is a work in progress. These guys are set at a 2 glass limit per session. Gives me time to decide, enough for the evening or will I go on a tear? These are the enjoyment selections, the officers, if you will, in the war on undrunkenness. The grunts, handles of Evan and Ezra, who take the brunt of the conflict, have unfortunately become casualties of that war. We need replacements!

Anyone wanting to combine a sampling of some good whiskies with "the holidays", may like to investigate the "Dram-A-Day Advent Calendar". Each day of advent, one gets to open a window and sample a different whisky. It does seem rather pricey, though.

However, it makes a change from chocolate and might improve one's tolerance of the season...

That does seem pricey, but I would still appreciate getting one for Christmas.

they tend to re run these things if they do well. I'll be saving up for next year.

I've bought a few things from them and they're a great company to deal with

Saw mention of Talisker. Good shite, not cheep. When I was a poor college kid in the 80s, me and my roomies saved up some scratch and got a bottle at BarBarry's liquor in Lafayette, IN. We had that first, then finished off a case of Fallstaff in short order.

We intended to 'save the good shite" but we knew it would not last an hour unsupervised in the kitchen.

I have really lost my taste for scotch, but will drink it when offered. I do the most scotch drinkin with me dad over the holidays...so scotch is "in season" for me now.
Here's to us, and those like us.

If any of you see "Abrachan" blended malt I would disrecommend it. It's quite cheap and comes in a lovely bottle but it's not much good. Interestingly it is made by an offshoot of Whyte and Mackay. I can tell. It is fairly similar but without the sickliness. Suppose it's worth it if you're interested in that sort of thing

My mind goes to a smoky, scotchy, german booze chocolate calendar. This makes me happy!

Rediscovering the rediscovering scotch whisky thread... well done, intrepid old chap. May the Islay be with you. Any good? Read that it was supposed to be the lightest of the Bowmores, but haven't tried it.

Yes K, how was it. We will need a full report.

The last of my bottle of Smokehead went down hard at Drinking MAn. It was good and well received.

I'm trying a bottle of The Singleton Liberte tonight that I got duty free last weekend. I've never had it before, I'm normally a Bailie Nicol Jarvie for swilling/Laphroaig for savouring kinda guy.

I must say it's pretty yummy. (I also got bottles of Laphroaig, Hendricks Gin and Absolute Vodka).
