Best airline for drinking

Post by BBoozer »

Wine, liquour, I don't care as long as there's alcohol in it.

What's the best airline for maintaining the buzz I'll already have started in the airport bar?

quantas and south african air give you whatever you want (beer and wine) on international flights, or used to.

I like United because they have (or had) Beam Black and Wild Turkey.

Singapore Airlines or Air New Zealand but I've heard that Emirates is pretty fab too. The lounges are amazing and there's bubbles from check in to landing. SG has lovely people and no one ever speaks nasty to a customer. Sometimes the ANZ folks are a bit cheeky but they are no where as bad as Delta, United or American. Virgin US is pretty sweet too if you pay for the upgrade; 75 bucks of "worth it". Except they are really sparce on airports they service.

Not much in the way of freebies on airlines anymore -- except long-distance flights.

Southwest is good because all their booze is $5 per serving: wine, liquor, or beer. Delta for sure -- and maybe others -- has a tiered system with beer at $5, wine at $6, liquor at $7, which is dumb.

Of course, if you go first class on any carrier, that's the Platonic ideal.

Someday I'll have the nerve to just crack open my duty free liquor and drink it on the flight.

Agreed. Plus the last time I flew Southwest I tipped the guy a couple bucks on the first drink (and at least $1 for every drink after), letting him know that I would require his services several times throughout the flight. He was attentive, I never even had to use the "call" button and he gave me a free drink as well.

Some airlines require that you use a credit card and some require cash only, so I always bring both. I prefer the cash route.

Southwest. Just flew from NY to Vegas, and they had no problem serving me 8 Wild Turkeys. Prompt service too.
Can I pour you a beer, Mr. Peterson?
A little early isn't it, Woody?
For a beer?
No, for stupid questions...

I once got fantastically "overserved" on Southwest, drank the plane out of beer on a flight from Minneapolis to Phoenix. Pro Tip; do not lie down on a sidewalk in Phoenix on a summer day as they are spectacularly hot.

that should be a warning sign. I mean, there should be signs warning "Are you drunk!? Remember to pass out in the shade"

That Bin Laden motherfucker really screwed things up for us. Where are the happy days when you could take a bottle of voddie laden coke or juice or whatever on board and have your own private party?
