Fortified wine

Post by Jose Beam »

Personally I love the stuff. I try to spread out my intake these days and only buy it when the situation calls for that extra spike of inebriation. Usually when breaking in new company a few bottles of 20/20 are a perfect way to start the evening.

Is Sherry included in this topic as well?

I guess it would depend on the brand. Are you swilling that stuff that is for cooking onions in?

I've drank stuff you could pickle onions in.

Getting drunk just isn't the same if it doesn't involve fortified wine of some sort

Napa Valley gets all the attention, but I'm lucky enough to live in Fortified Wine Country. I like Mad Dog. Blue is my favorite varietal.

Sure, I like sherry and port. In sherry, I tend to go to the (very) dry ones, as aperitif. Port I like aged, after dinner.

BB...unlike fine Port and Sherry, fortified wines are aged on the store's shelf.

MD 20/20 used to be the start of many nights of alarming behavior for myself and my best chum. It has been some long months since we've spent time together - my buddy and the Mad Dog. I've noticed there are some flavors that exist now that sound fascinating! Electric Melon? Why not!

Back in the day it was always Lemon-Lime for chugging before a night of fun when I was underage and Banana Red for gulping down slightly slower.

If I ever get around to inventing that time-travel device, I'm gonna buy a duffel bag full of the new Mad Dog flavors and deliver it to my 18 year old self. I would tell that son of a bitch to invest in Google and toss him that bag. 18 year old me won't remember the stock tip, but I betcha he'll get a kick outta that wine.
There are those who look upon some of my more unsavory habits and call them the cries for help of a problem drinker. I prefer to think of them as the charming misadventures of a dashing rogue.

Hey chimneyfish, I love the avatar. Trouts is a great joint! I haven't been down there in years, but maybe this calls for another road trip. Does Red Simpson still play there on Mondays?
