Gotta love drinking bourbon and cokes on the highway.

Post by John Barleycorn »

As I sit in the passenger seat getting wasted, there's always another McDonalds or something where I can stop to get another ice cold coke or even take a leak. As the miles go by I feel better and better.

If there was a way I could sneak in some airplane bottles at work, I'd join you. Hey, wait a minute, I could get my driver to stop at the Steeleville,
IL Huck's, which sells airplane bottles along with fountain Cokes. And Johnny, my driver on the ride home is lot tolerant about morning booze than my driver on the way to work (one of my co-riders gets a 211or Four Loko every now and then). Can't wait for Fri!

I don't quite follow this conversation, but it sounds like fun.

When I was young, the only place to get drunk was in someone's car, driving around the rural southeastern USA. Empties made great projectiles for STOP signs and such. Sometimes I feel like I had rather ride around town with some friends, drinks and music than sit around some bar.

My girlfriend will let me get a little drunk and she will drive us home, as she doesn't drink so much. That is my favorite part of the night out!
Pipe down, Otis!!!!

Substitute rural midwest and I was there. That was the olden days. Good times, good times.

You should try the Amtrak sometime. It's the most glorious drinking and moving that exists.

yes, most states do, some don't, I believe TX is one of them.

Here, it's not a civil cite, it's a full blown misdemeanor, meaning you can actually go to jail for having an open container in your car. You can even go to jail (not saying you will, but it's possible) if the seal is broken on an alcoholic beverage - even if no one had a drink out of it. Broken seal = open container = possible jail time, even if you are 100 percent s*ber.

The thing is, here, the open container has to be out of reach of the driver. I go to a lot of Scotch tastings, so I drive around with open containers all the time, the thing is, as a driver, they can't be within your reach. Open bottles go either in the trunk, or if you're driving a hatchback, in the rear of the car. They can not be transported in the "cockpit" so to speak.
BMMS is wrong.

That's shitty. I'm sure in the UK it's fine so long as you aren't drinking from it, ie you aren't drunk. How would that work for bringing empties to a bottle bank. Hell of a lot of open containers there...

Drinking and driving may be very bad it is also a lot of fun. Although I haven't done it in about... 3 years, I miss those days. A very close call with the police set me straight though and I haven't done it sense. Dodged a bullet when I was driving drunk listening to The Doors and a policeman stopped me, asked me where I was going, thankfully someone got shot in the area and they were just looking for suspects. I was a very good drunken designated driver.

Up until @2001 or so, passengers could drink in cars in Texas...but no more.
