drink fu

Post by sihtfaced »

i imagine drinking hard is a lot like kung fu or being a shogun warrior. i can imagine i would learn a great deal of discipline and skill by learninng one style or taking one master. but if i stay too long with one master i become weak against all other styles. so we meet again, rum. so we meet again...

Good point. I am mastered in the art of whiskey and beer. Vodka catches me like a knife to the nut sack.

I drink, therefore, I am.

Or, if you prefer, bibilous ergo sum.

I fight a never-ending battle with the twin demons, whisky and beer. Once in a while, I have been known to slay several bottles of wine and have occasionally fought vodka to a standstill.

I loves the vodka. Me and it have come to a perfect understanding.

I'm not a big vodka fan, would only have a few bottles a year. I usually prefer a spirit with more flavour, but occasionally I will decide there is nothing else that will do and buy something nice, or better, borrow something nice from a friend and enjoy the refined goodness. I think I dislike it for the same reason I used to dislike cider, because it seems to be something drunk indiscriminately by cretins

this analogy holds. never liked gin, but decided a few years back to get to understand it, to learn the tao of gin, if you will. i didn't think of it as fighting at the time, but that's kind of how i approached it. i got a coach in my corner, a buddy who really liked the stuff. started with a few tonic-based sparring partners. worked up to some serious fights with martinis. had a pretty good record and took my shot at the title with a bottle of...shit, can't remember...dark blue bottle, called itself "navy gin," i think....

anyway, yeah. my usual campaign partners are beer and whiskey, but it's good to fight all styles.

cheers!

I'm well versed in Bourbon-fu and Beer-fu. I'm working on mastering Rye-fu and Scotch-fu.

Rum-fu and Vodka-fu have been almost forgotten in the mists of youth, Rum-fu being reborn a few years back with the finding of Screech. Vodka-fu may be lost forever, I can fathom no real reason to jump back into that discipline.

One day I fill find a Gin-fu Master and give that one a go.

I don't think if I have yet developed any specific styles, but I am always eager to take on every style of these anywhere, any time.

MMA. Excellent.

Me? I'm a jack of all drinks, and a Master of none. However, I work at my craft on a daily basis.
