If I have the luxury of drinking in the morning I'll usually just have a nice cold beer or a Caesar. It's very rare when I get a chance to booze in the early. But, I prefer to drink in the evening, if I start too early I get kind of sluggish.

Well, it's 1:16 pm here and I'm starting earlier than normal. I had to go to the VA today to be assessed for disability, and it really stressed me out, so I plan to get drunk earlier than normal. I had this fucking Indian woman as my Doc and she seemed to know less about medicine than I do. Good thing I have enough booze to get through this day!

I think he may have been referring to a woman whose native country may have been India. Not sure, though, I have noticed and influx in the medical/dental facilities and offices ,even here in rural 'merica, of immigrants from that country. Seems everyone and their cousins are getting medical degrees over there and coming here to set up or get a start in the field.

Either way it does come off as a bit redneck if not out right racist.

I'm not racist (just an asshole who digs creepy poop-porn) but if I have to be assessed by somebody that got their medical degree in a Country where the average Doctor can practice their trade on the sidewalk of a plague infested Country using rusty medical tools, then I say fuck that.

If that's racist in your mind, then so be it. I threw out some medical terms I'd heard other Doc's use to describe my condition and she just looked at me like a 2 year old looks at you when they hear the world existentialism for the first time.

Foreign medical graduates go through an extensive review and testing process in the US. To greatly simply things, after taking a difficult exam, they go through a long period of being watched by other physicians before they're qualified to "saw bones". At any point in the process, they could be disqualified. I wouldn't think twice about being seen by a doctor who went to medical school in India, however, everyone is human. There are bad doctors, mediocre doctors, and good ones. Unfortunately, the VA doesn't have the best reputation in this area. To me, "VA doc" is more of a red flag than anything else, and I wish I didn't have to say that. There's some personal experience there that I'm not going to go into here.

Zog, definitely no harsh - I understand. I just want to point out that where someone got their medical degree has pretty much no relevance to how good of a doctor they'll be. There are a number of highly qualified doctors who went to medical school in places like Africa, where you wouldn't expect the educational system to be very good. The fact is, if they made the cut to practice here, they're equivalent to a US-graduate (unless your quack is practicing without a license, of course).
