thankfully gin and white lemonade makes a passable alternative.
My heart goes out to you though, it must be tough
Actually, it has turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
You see, quinine anaesthetises the palate. So now that I have switched to using carbonated or soda water with a few drops of angostura bitters, I have found that the botanicals in gin shine through that much brighter.
Try it, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Quinine is fine for the mind
when the tongue finds a reason to run
from the kiss of lovely Miss Gin,
to the thighs of sweet Lady Rum.
From dancing with Gin with the help of Quinine,
I've left that behind and now love her own taste.
Lovely Miss Gin is now mine for the win:
A Martini awaits
Today I dropped some special packages in the mail. Just so happens the State Store(liquor store in PA is state run). i picked up the fixin's for some of the other gin delights as well as the Martini. I still have to pick up onions and olives for the Martini and Gibson or Gimlet, can't remember which. So that it for the weekend.
I did run up another Trinity equal parts Gin, Sweet and Dry Vermouth mixed with ice in a mixing glass then strained into a cocktail glass. Very nice , tangy and the botanicals from the gin linger on the tongue nicely. Plus three liquors with little dilution gets it done well.
Next up the Isle of Skye.

If you want to a really good scotch, try Clynelish, haven't had it for years but I love it! I've been branching out a little bit with cocktails lately, my usual drinks are ale, scotch and rum.
Got set up with pimientos. Also, She likes vodka Martinis, but me? Gonna start with something from my own back yard, so to speak. I didn't craft this. (Guess what will be coming your way, Sir Patchez)
Caps un-cracked, except for the vermouth. I've had a few sips of it, and it tastes like the scent of the air when a big tree topples over in the woods, and the roots look like a spiderweb. Interesting...
In the spirit of this thread, I decided to forego my usual vodka, gin and wine and splash out on a Bourbon.
I opted for a (Labrot & Graham) Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select, limited batch. Weighing in at a sturdy 43.2% ABV, yet tasting of warm Summer evenings, Oak, pipe smoke and honey; I am enjoying this very much.
