There was at one point,a cheap gin that already had the "lime flavoring" in it. It tasted like green froot loops and bad gin.

Ok, this little diversion is going to turn into a full blown obsession. Whenever I "try" something I just dive off the deep end and go nuts.

Overall I dig the whole cocktail aspect of gin. It lends itself to mixing and to mixing more than 2 parters. I never really got into the whole cocktail thing. I mean yea I did Bloody Marys and White Russians. Gin however leads to more complex mixtures.

This is opening up a whole new aspect of drinking for me. I'm going to enjoy the hell out of this.

You lead, I'll follow on this gin path.

Tonight, just easing into some rum, but got a snack for the quinine.

I had pretty much eschewed rum after too much cheap rum while younger. Then I had Pusser's Navy Strength Rum and then the Kracken. I enjoyed both. Then I had too much of the Kracken, straight up, and have a little aversion to it now.

I was moved, by this thread, to rediscover my love of gin; which was nice, right up to the point where I found that I have (I shit you not) developed an allergy to quinine. Boy, was that a hellish hangover (next time, I think that I'll risk getting malaria).

To be honest the Gin fell to the wayside for Trout Season opener. Bloody Marys were had in abundance. This weekend I will explore more as I got some Lime Juice and Agnostura bitters. Both of which seem to appear in a lot of the Gin related recipes.

thankfully gin and white lemonade makes a passable alternative.

My heart goes out to you though, it must be tough

Today, I stepped outside the wheelhouse, but in a manner not previously indicated here. Perhaps there is value in the description of such a pursuit from the perspective of a man who dares to tread where once he feared.

No manner of Lovely Miss Ethyl should truly be discarded or hated, for someone out there must enjoy it. If you love your beverage, then you are welcomed to the bar. Have a seat.

The Martini has become a sort of Grail for this damned bastard. I will here on after capitalize the first letter of its name, in honor and tribute.

You see, I have true fear that if I approach it in the wrong way, it will not be mine to keep in my trove.

A true Modern Drunkard should face his fear, and then dance with it, isn't that correct?

Well, let me tell you mighty fine folks, I've come up with this idea:

Being a man of shots and neats, I've decided to approach Miss Gin from a tribal perspective. I have bought the dry Gin, and now I am taking sips of her without any adornment. I want to kiss this Lady in the naked manner.

Then and only then will I come, to love her. After this, she will wear her pretty dress, and it will look fine on her body.

As it stands now, I find her to be quite refreshing. No need to put a paper bag over her head. I am dating her, and she dances very well.

Ice cold glass, no ice, nothing but her.

Mmmmm.
