Been enjoying the homebrew here too! Good fun.

Our first batch was supposed to be a 'Landlord' style English ale which ended up tasting more like a Belgian beer! Not sure what happened there.

The second brew was an American IPA pack which came out with a grapefruity taste. Packs a punch though, I reckon it's up around the 8% mark.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the homebrew though Brandon - let us know how the brews go!

Cheers.

It must be said that it is quite heartening to witness a new crew of Modern Drunkardists stepping up to the bar.

If you do a search for homebrew there have been other threads in the past but I'll post in here as well.

I used to homebrew a lot. I kind of slacked off when I went back to school two years ago. Now with anew job and a shit ton of overtime I have not had the chance to get back into it. I have to hit the local homebrew shop and get the show back on the road.

Yea, it always ends up taking more time than I expect. I make sure to never do it when I have a commitment coming up afterwards (plus the drinking involved), or the next morning, because coming home from work at 9PM and homebrewing makes you run really late into the night.

This is one of the things that I always mean to take up. Like many other ventures in the past, when I have the money, I don't have the time and when I have the time, I don't have the money. It has gone from one to the other and back again, since I got interested. Second shift work does not lend itself to many hobbies.

I have most of the equipage. I have read books on the subject. I have helped a friend cook up a batch.

My sister gave me a Mr. Beer kit for crismast in 1990. I used that for a couple years , using the cans of concentrated kit stuff, then started doing it the funner, drunkier, mashier, messier way. I had quite a few favorites, kept a book of every recipe I put together. It is fun to drink something you have brewed yourself. It was more fun when friends were into it and helping, but as time went on they lost interest until the batch was ready to drink. I brewed for 20 years or so, but I bet I haven't got a batch going in over 5 years. Still got all the shit, I should get it going again.

I used to have fun naming the batches and creating labels.
All under the "Thirsty" brand:

Thirsty's Bubonic Lager
Vaginal Seepage Wheat
Thirsty's Olde Tyme Vehicular Homicide Ale
Trauma Inducer Lite
Accidental Dismemberment

I even did one batch where I used raisins to prime the bottles - Sphincter Winker Stout

I had a bunch of others i dont remember.

Therein lies the true beauty of homebrew. The hopes that you can turn a hobby inot a real business. Branding is everything Thirsty. Problem for you will be the fact that Thirsty Dog already has a foot hold in Ohio. Being that that is where they are from. Do love the Siberian Nights they do though.
At leaste they wen the dog route.

Oh man, don't get me started on the branding going pro business. My buddy and I have been talking for the past year about perfecting a mead recipe and going full pro with it as a brewery that bottles mead in regular 12 oz bottles, trying to cut costs down to near beer levels, and marketing it as a ridiculously tasty and highly alcoholic beverage to other young'ins. I ran a lot of C++ programs I coded up to get a feel for profit margins, expenses, etc over 2014.

Funny thing is, each of us has only done a couple batches of mead. I moved onto beer. I enjoy how quickly I can move beer through, relatively, and just never feel like getting all the ingredients for that one month mead that floats around the internet.

is that the Joe's Ancient Orange mead?

Cause I did try that one and it was pretty tasty, back off the clove a bit though. That got pretty cloying.

This hobby kicks ass. I just got my new grain mill (The last one had dead bats in it. Yes, you read that correctly) and it'll be a couple weeks before I get back to it.
