Fuck - on my fifth or sixth glass of wine and I'm still in a bad mood. It must be all of these drugs that I'm on. But I'm getting another week off from work, my doc gave me a note so I'm covered. I should be feeling better. Let's drink another few down and see how the night goes.

Any of you remember watching tv with an antenna? Some stations you could pick up, others were snowy, and some you just couldn't get. then they came out with this digital TV. I remember ordering those free digital converters way back. I was astonished at how cleat the picture was, it was like cable tv, but sometimes the picture would pixelate or cut out. But I haven't watched tv in years until tonight. I tried to, but I just don't like it anymore. With the internet, you can choose what you want to watch and when. On tv, you get whatever they give you at the time. And the picture still cuts out occaisionally. Should I just throw this thing out? I can't think of much use for it anymore. Except nostalgia. Saturday nights watching COPS and America's Most Wanted because I didn't have enough money to go out.

One of the reasons I used to go to bars was to watch tv. I would get tired of the snowy picture and love to see the clear pictures on the tvs in the bars.

TV flat out sucks. Propaganda shit and endless commercials

Remember when you switched from VHS to DVD and all your classic porn looked waaaayyyy too detailed?

As a chid I was super amped up when we finally got satellite instead of the shitty antenna, I was glued to the TV, sleeping with it, sharing my food with it, everything, I loved it so so much. Even forgot my own name for a while

LOL at tv addiction. I had it bad in the early 90's, and that was with a snowy indoor antenna picture.

7:30 PM Saturday night, first glass of Franzia poured. What do you prefer when you're solo drinking? Music? TV? I'm reading a book written back in 1925 similar in theme to Great Gatsby, but much more realistic. It's in print today only by those little presses that grab stuff out of the public domain. It's called American Tragedy by Theordor Dreiser.

I was reading "The Man Who Laughs" by Victor Hugo - 1800's leather bound book I bought on eBay- on this breezy evening and popped in what I guess Oett would call "classic" (VHS) porn. (Not really. I watched cooking shows and some Alfred Hitchcock).

Remember "Showtime After Dark" and what we used to call "Skinemax" aka Cinemax? Good times right there. Successful in giving pre-teens semi's across the country.

What I would like to know is... what is addictive early 90's television aside from soft core porn movie channels? That non-hilarious sitcom full of blonde people with that guy with a mullet that banged Alanis Morissette and then she got all angry over it and wrote that most heinous song?

Bob Saget was in his prime being on that show AND America's Funniest Videos.

America never gets tired of watching men get racked in the balls.

Ahh...the 90's.

Addictive tv shows in the early 90's? For me it was the sitcoms that were still hanging around from the post 80's. Herman's Head, Home Improvement. Then there was that new controversial cartoon being shown on prime time tv, The Simpsons. I pretended to hate it, but watched it anyway. Sunday night was my favorite night. 60Minutes and then at 8 PM on PBS was Nature narrated by George Paige. I used to keep track of what day of the week it was by what was on tv. When I got on the internet in 96 I drifted away from tv. But I would still rent movies from Blockbuster on Saturday night after laundry and groceries. There was even an independent VHS rental store that i rented from for a while. It was in the strip mall for only a few months before it disappeared. They would let me rent without a credit card. I would love to hear from those guys today. They must have loved movies to get into the movie rental business, so what are they doing now? Working as coders for Google?

I can't bear tv anymore. But even when I do try to watch it, all I get is commercials. It's like they don't want anyone to watch them anymore, at least not the over-the-air free tv. But maybe the few people who watch free tv have no other choice so the broadcasters can do whatever the fuck they want. Can you imagine some poor motherfucker living on social security in a flop house trying to watch tv today? he must be going insane!

Oh, I forgot to mention America's Funniest People and America's Funniest Home Videos. I liked Funniest People better, but it got canceled first. Bob Saget was annoying, at least I thought so.

My sister once had this chinese boyfriend, he lived with us for a while, and during dinner time he had to watch germany`s funniest home videos.
He was so giddy and sometimes couldn`t even eat he was laughing so hard.
Don`t they have china`s funniest home videos?

Woohoo! Day 5 of my solo drinking bender. When I go on a bender, I usually only last three days before I get sick of it, but that's because I'm out in the bars amongst the people. I start feeling physically ill and have to go s o ber up. But now I feel great. I'm recovering from surgery and still have plenty of hydrocodone left. I gathered up all of my poems, there looks to be over a thousand of them, and am editing/revising them to get them up to submittable standards.

It's hot as hell in here and the AC is going full blast.

Drink and write poetry baby. That's the secret to life.

Maybe people in China just aren't that funny? Not enough hits to the groin?

Hydrocodone -- yum.

You should share some of your best poems!

Most poetry contests prohibit entering any poems that have been published before, and they explicitly state that any poems you've posted on social media can not be entered.

Day six of my solo bender! While a box of Franzia may boast that it contains 34 glasses of wine, it only lasts for two drinking episodes. Still cheaper than the Carlos Rossi jugs, though. My mom's drinking friend used to drink that Carlos Rossi.

Day 8 of my solo bender. Tonight I'm switching it up to Budweiser - 12 oz cans. Just picked up a 12 pack at the liquor store, plus one can already in my fridge. Today is the first day of my bender that I haven't had to run my air conditioner. Still cleaning dry blood out of my ears almost two weeks after the surgery. Tomorrow I should be getting the stitches out, if they were able to clean up their office after a pipe burst somewhere in the building in an upper floor. (I was supposed to get them out today.)

Bukowski would sometimes hit the whiskey bottle as he drank beer after beer, but I don't like doing that. At the end of the night if I've run out of beer, I take a couple of nips of whiskey, but I don't like lacing them together.

Bukowski has a poem in "You Get So Alone..." where he took a prostitute to his hotel room, poured himself a drink and just stared out the window. She asked if he was some kind of fag, but he just sat there drinking until she told him to take her home. He did, and then went back to finish getting drunk.
