Can’t we all just compromise on a whiskey that neither breaks the bank nor rots the gut?

Just bought a handle of Benchmark 8, how much pain am I in for the next morning? Couldn't resist trying a bourbon under $25 for a half gallon.
Benchmark isn’t half bad for the price point. Make no mistake though, it will put the hurt on you.

Honestly, it is not bad at all. On my third glass and it is growing on me. Definitely better than McMasters or Black Velvet.

Benchmark 8 has a nice peppery aftertaste, mildly sweet. A cut above Old Crow, if it doesn't make feel like death warmed over tomorrow I will make it a permanent part of my rotation.

Rittenhouse Rye is good deal if you like Ryes and a good bang for your buck at 100 proof.

The price for a handle of WT 101 at my local CVS is $43. A handle of Gran Legacy is $12. I know some of you guys love your whiskeys, but there's just no way in hell I could justify paying that much more for name brand whiskey.

BTW, my local CVS no longer carries Kessler. :(
GREAT NEWS! They do have Kessler, but they moved it up to the second shelf, even above Evan Williams which is more expensive. Stupid CVS clerks!

im amazed to find out bottom shelf is a literal term in the states. tbf sounds like a good sysem you can adjust your looking to where your budget reaches.

only thing i buy regularly is Bean...it's cheap enough here and doesn't rot my guts.

When i was in the states i drank Evan Williams as it was cheap and good but it's quite pricey over here.

not really as we can get a lot here...you just pay premiums for it. so like a $20 bottle might cost £28....i did enjoy trying some nice american ipa's fresh rather than a good few months old.
