Dropkick ON their stomping grounds is one of the best shows you'll ever see. They aren't going to be playing live much longer, a little birdie told me Mike's voice is giving.ampersand wrote:I was totally going to go see the dropkick murphys on st pattys day in boston, but tickets were thirty dollars plus service charge. no thanks.Phirefighter wrote:Flogging Molly or Dropkick Murhpys, Both of which are here in the next 3 months.
I'd rather buy some green beer.

Damn, that's pretty cheap compared to ticket prices around here. I wish I could afford to take Goose for an early b-day present . . . tickets are cheap enough but it would cost us a lot to get to and stay in Boston.ampersand wrote:I was totally going to go see the dropkick murphys on st pattys day in boston, but tickets were thirty dollars plus service charge. no thanks.Phirefighter wrote:Flogging Molly or Dropkick Murhpys, Both of which are here in the next 3 months.

Skip the Dropkicks, catch the Street Dogs instead. The DKM's glory days are behind them.
The one song I know I'll hear when I catch up with my friends tonight is Whiskey by the Lucky Scars. And look, there's a video:

I'm the fat bastard with the black framed glasses, by the way.

stop thinking start drinking
Lucero probably romanticizes alcohol-soaked working-class futility to an unhealthy degree, and Ben Nichols is hardly the first blue-collar bard to look for a way out of a dead-end town at the bottom of a shot glass. But on the Memphis roots rockers' fifth album, Nichols' gritted tales, sung as if he's gargling bourbon and thumbtacks, often achieve a Springsteen-ish grandeur. Meanwhile, the band's restless, energetic twin-guitar assault, mingled with studio vet Rick Steff's piano, sells the drama without overplaying it. http://www.luceromusic.com

'Stop wallowing in self-pity. Now pull yourself together and come get drunk with us.'

DMB, Allmans, and Phish, when I'm feeling groovy-floaty.
Buffet, when I'm lazily sipping an afternoon away.
Chris Isaak, if I'm crying over loves lost and want to slit my wrists.
Ministry, if I'm aggro and looking for a fight.
CCR and the Stones, if it's a beer-drinkin' evening.
And so on... the music is a condiment to the booze and the mood. Oh, and if I want to hear fabulous musicianship and brilliant lyrics, Rush comes to mind.
'Course, Appetite for Destruction is always good, too...
