As anyine who's been paying attention knows, Springsteen is my favorite artist. He doesn't write songs about alcohol but he does write some about drinking experiences- Spirit in the Night, Glory Days, Highway Partrolman spring to mind. Any mood you're in the guy has an albums worth of songs for.
As for Mike Ness....
In 1999, Ness released his first solo album, Cheating at Solitaire. Although some of Social Distortion's songs paid homage to country music artists, Cheating at Solitaire was an unalloyed expression of Ness's country influences. Solitaire included a guest appearance by rock icon Bruce Springsteen.
But hell, either you like the Boss or you don't.

I can't write like Papa, you know I just ain't able
But if he came in here tonight, I'd drink him under the table -Ronny Elliott
RIP Mayhem, as long as I have a heart you are in it.

I didn't mean that as a slam to the Boss. Mikey just rocks harder. And hell I love Bruces version of Blinded better than Mannfreds anyways.Oggar wrote:As anyine who's been paying attention knows, Springsteen is my favorite artist. I find that the grand irony of "Born in the USA" being co-opted by the Reagan-Bush neo-cons amusing.
Just my opinion, but there are quite a few bands that rock harder than Springsteen. And while I'm feeling 'agin', Thoroughgood just plain sucks. He is a no talent hack/rip-off artist.
