True. I LOVE to point out the flaws in an economic/political system that has failed repeatedly and required/requires the murder of millions of people to be in place as long as it was/is. And I beat it the fuck down any time it dares rear its failing, despicable, spirit and initiative sucking head in my wonderful country.

Any questions?
What about Obamacare?
I'm drinking another round before it becomes medically illegal. If they find out I'm binging they will send a SWAT team ... don't want that!
Obamacare is a nightmare. If it were so damned good, why are the likes of huge Obama supporters like the IBEW demanding waivers, along with many other unions, why has congress and their staff just gotten waivers? If it's so fuckin' good, why isn't it being implemented as ordered? Know why? BECAUSE IT SUCKS!!

The solution is allowing people to buy the insurance they want - I am a very sick person - I will buy very expensive insurance to help me pay even more expensive hospital bills (which can be reduced through tort reform).

People who do not require the medical attention I do should not be obligated to pay for it. If you're healthy and you want to be covered for only a catastrophic illness or injury, you should be able to.

Comparisons to car insurance are constantly made - welp - people are free to drop their collision coverage - then if their car gets hit, they pay. How is this different from health insurance??? If you're not sick, why can't you just buy a policy to cover you for a horrific accident or disease? And, by the by, if you don't drive, you aren't mandated to get car insurance. Whether you're sick or not, Obamacare demands a fee from you. This is bullshit. I'm sick. I should pay more. I cost more. Those who are healthy should pay less - or pay nothing at all if they wish.

The solution, as always, is a free market a la carte policy we can all tailor to our specific needs - yes, just like car insurance. If you're sick and need a bit more coverage, i.e. me, then you pay more, if you're not, then you choose whatever minimal coverage you want. Crazy, right?

NYDingbat, I am no supporter of the ACA (I did not vote for Obama, do not immediately assume that I am a cheerleader for Obama just because I oppose your ignorant ass), but I cannot help myself from responding to your terribly myopic viewpoint. I don't doubt that you have a health condition, nor do I doubt that you may have to make fiscal adjustments in order to finance your treatment. However, you cannot in good conscience assume that every human being is capable of paying money for the healthcare that they need (an assumption you naively make). You imagine a utopia (that's right, I, a socialist, used the word 'utopia' against you, a 'realistic conservative') where things just work out because people pay what they want for the care they want. The key word is want, because you assume the classical liberal (read: modern conservative) position that we are all rational actors and every decision we make can simply be taken at face value as being the way that we want things to be.

I don't think you're a bad person, so I won't hold it against you, but seriously? I'm not just talking about healthcare anymore at this point. Do you understand the reality of the world we live in?

I believe healthcare is a human right. And if you want to pull the old "it can't be a right because it requires another person's services", then you must have lost all inkling of humanity that once may have existed inside you. That tends to be the effect capitalism has on people.

I'm new here and a little shy.

I believe that it is my human right to have the use of your credit card whenever I choose. And right now I choose. Hand it over bucko. For humanity sake, hand it over now. And don't give me that "I need it crap." I have needs also.

This is (I hope) humourous, but a tad "off message".

Read as many back posts as you can, "Albert" (from Leighton) and try to get a feel for the place.

If you have any questions or requests, just contact a moderator; we are always willing to help.

Have fun whilst you are here. And remember,
Post drunk.
Post often.
Post drunk often.
Best,

I think that you'll find that this is the objective of this experiment.

So, please, go ahead, "Albert" (from Leighton)...
