Old Forester bottled-in-bond (100 proof) (Brown-Forman, sue me, it's much better than TJD)

"Smooth" bourbons:
Evan Williams Single Barrel - Very light, good for bourbon novice
Old Charter Proprietor's Reserve - High corn content, flavourful but smooth
Four Roses Single Barrel (if you can find it - limited to KY and overseas now)
Woodford Reserve (yes yes it's Brown-Forman, sue me)

Wheated bourbons:
W.L. Weller Centennial or W.L. Weller 12 yr old

Premium bourbons:
George T Stagg (If you can find it - new Spring release coming out around now)
Pappy 15 or Pappy 20 (also wheated, but belong more in the premium category)
Rock Hill Farms
Blanton's

Not one of these bourbons has disappointed
You forgot Elijah Craig.
Doh. Jesus I'm tired. Being undrunk and sleep deprived is no fun. And no end in sight.

Agaveman is very right - Elijah Craig is great stuff, either the 12 yr or the 18 yr.

These are the bourbons I have had so don't suggest them.

AND NOTHING CANADIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
not to be the Booze police or anything, but there is no such thing as Canadian Bourbon. All Bourbon by definition comes from Kentucky.
Sorry to be pedantic, but this is not true. While a common misconception, US law only states that bourbon must be from the US (in addition to the various rules about the ingredients). The name bourbon can refer to any whiskey made in the US that adheres to the rules required for bourbon. However, Kentucky is the only state where you can put the state's name on the bottle. Thus, Wild Turkey can print "Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey" on it's bottles, while it would be illegal for me to call the stuff I make in my (hypothetical) still "Massachusetts bourbon", even if it was technically bourbon. Only bourbon made in Kentucky can use the state's name in its title.

(Traitor) TJD and George Dickel are not bourbons, but Tennessee whiskeys. This is a separate category under the law, and as far as I know, these are the only two brands that fall under that category.

OK, if you're still reading, I'll explain further: Bourbon must be made from a mash of between 51% and 80% corn. Also, bourbon must be aged for at least four years (if it's a blend, the youngest barrel used must be four years old).

I think the above is correct, but that's all from memory (it's way too late to look this all up). Feel free to correct me, and claim free bourbon if you're right.

As for the whole point of this thread, I love Wild Turkey 101. Usually, however, I drink Evan Williams, because I'm broke and it's a damn fine bourbon for the price (I hear about better values on this board, but the EW is what I can get here cheap). The Wild Turkey has a beautiful harshness to it, like it's got the gates to real drinks behind it, and if you can take the gates, everything afterwards is brilliant. Other than various other special offerings from Wild Turkey, the WT101 is the best basic bourbon you can find, IMHO.

I concur. Two thumbs up for the "Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch", Blanton's.

This grand, old thread deserves a bump. Have we forgotten the taste of Distilled Americana?

No, I don't think we have... not at all.

Yeah, I found myself getting worked up before the whole, you know, 13 years ago thing kicked in.
Evan will make it better. Enough Evan, and I'll manage to go back there and tell those fuckers what for.

My usual bourbon is Jim Beam, occasionally Evan Williams. But I have also been known to get Buffalo Trace, Woodford Reserve, Maker's Mark, Bulleit and once Blantons and that needs to happen again because it was delicious.

I've been enjoying J. Henry Reserve for awhile now, it's a locally produced bourbon from a distillery about 10 miles from my home in Wisconsin. They use red corn for the mash base, gives the bourbon a deep amber color. available in 90 proof and barrel proof (107), dangerously smooth. I prefer it neat or with just a splash of spring water.

Currently my open bourbon are Stagg Jr., Colonel E. H. Taylor Small Batch, Russell's Reserve Single Barrel from tha Turkey, and a Knob Creek Single Barrel that was hand selected for a candy store in MD by myself and 5 other guys from my FB whiskey group.

I am currently out of my go to low end Evan Williams white label. Better known as Bottled in Bond.

Ezra Brooks. Old Weller Special Reserve, if you can find it. Pappy Van Winkle 20, if you can find it and can afford it. Buffalo Trace. Jim Beam Black.

I used to like Early Times. Haven't had that in a long time.
