Sunglasses

Post by Jukebox Johnson »

I always buy/wear cheap sunglasses. I'll go to WalMart or a drug store and pick through them until I find something I like the look of. As far as I'm concerned, as long as they are 100% UV protection, they perform their function safely. When they get broken or lost, I'll do it again. I don't think I've ever paid more than $10.00 for a pair of sunglasses.

Cheap! I lose or break them too often. Same with lighters.

it wouldn't let me vote in your poll for some reason, but I'd vote cheap all the way. I usually pick up the cheap sunglasses that imitate the expensive styles. For some reason I usually find them at rest stops along the interstates!

Plus ZZ Top wrote a song about them!

edited to say I was just able to vote!

This weekend I was playing golf and a guy in the group in front of us drove his cart back where we were playing to look for his sunglasses. They had fallen out of his cart somewhere in the deep rough. As he drove around looking for them we all heard the crunch when he drove over them.

"Well, at least they have a lifetime guarantee" he said. Apparently they will send him new glasses if he sends in his broken ones. I guess that's pretty good, but it doesn't cover lost glasses and you stil have no sunglasses until the new ones come.

Here's the thing, I voted cheap, but I really prefer expensive. Nothing is better than the crisp clear view you get from behind a pair of Ray-Bans. They are THE BEST EVER! I have a sweet pair of Ray-Bans because some one left 'em in my store and never came back for 'em. I say cheap because I could never in my life (until I make more money) bring myself to pay more than 12.99 for sunglasses. I put a 40 dollar pair on credit once, which means I'll really pay 800 bucks for 'em by the time I pay that off. Anyway, Target or the grocery store are my usual supplier for shades, plus that ZZ Top song is always playing in my head when I try 'em on.
I've taken the edge off so many times, I'm round!

Closer to the latter, though I do go out some (as in, I go to work, go to lunch, go back home). I never see the need. Plus, I wear glasses as it is, so I'd really need to get some prescription sunglasses or one of those attachments that turn your spectacles into sunglasses and I think those are dumb looking.

I meant to put that as an option in the poll, but I screwed up and the last option didn't show up.

Poll tip: Click the button to add one more option after you type in your last real option or it won't show up.

I voted expensive, but then I have only bought one pair in my life (5 years ago), which I still wear.

I'm not going to vote, because I wear prescription sunglasses, so I get limited options when it comes to price. The pair I have now I got as part of a 2 for $100 deal with a pair of eyeglasses.

Expensive. A $90 pair lasts me about 2 years, cheap ones only last about a month. I put them on, take em off constantly at work...at least I did. Loose hinges piss me off to no end. In the last 5 years I bought about 6 pairs. 1 pair ran over by my HiLo an hour after I bought them, 1 left on a plane, 1 fell out of my Jeep, 2 are still here. 1 pair wore out. I don't think I paid less than $90 for any of them and the ones I ran over got replaced for free. The place I got them from replaces anything but lens damage and the lenses were the only thing intact after my 28,000lb truck smashed them.

I have prescription ray-bans- but until I needed them (last year) I always got the cheap ones from Big Lots.
