Booze Filter!

Post by vtjim »

Have you people heard of the Gray Kangaroo? My wife's friend bought it for her as a birthday present.

Testimonial...

When we were in Pennsylvania a couple of months ago, we bought two jars (yes, jars) of this horrid stuff called Georgia Moon Corn Whiskey. It's foul, foul stuff. Trust me. I'm as much a drunkard as the best of 'em, and I'd rather down shots of Listerine.

Think "liquid yeast." Flavor and aroma. Awful. Just awful. Not bottom shelf. More like "mopped off the floor."

We had nothing to lose by passing this lower-than-rotgut swill through the Gray Kangaroo.

Well holy shit... The filter turned this stuff into drinkable booze. I'm sipping it straight from the glass! It also removed an off-yellowish color. I'd compare it to a smooth vodka now, but with a touch of a grainy flavor.

Two issues of MDM came in the box. My wife and I were boozing it up doing an MDM crossword and reading the articles out loud. A good night! Good marketing ploy, actually. We need to subscribe to the printed MDM.

Next, we want to buy some really cheap vodka and try the filter... It's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it.

I got to buy one of those for *cough* Corn likker filtering.
Still just figuring it all out. Still not really figuring it out.

I use my liver to do the same thing. No kangaroo is getting my likker.

A Brita filter works as well, and it's cheaper. You just have to run stuff through about 6 times.

hmmm, the great Brita versus the GK debate is looming on the horizon.
BMMS is wrong.

No debate. You can make your own "Grey Kangaroo" for a couple of dollars. It's just activated charcoal. Duh. As if that is new.

I'm on neither side. I just so happen to like the taste of cheap booze so I'd never buy a Brita or GK for such purposes.

From what I read(and this was all on Distilling forums) the charcoal had different grades, or it had something to do with grain size or somesuch. I've had a crap day and will no doubt google this later.

Oh and one of the magazines had an interview with MassiveDrunk.

At least I'm pretty sure it was him.

Back in the olden times, Joe 12 told us he used a regular Brita filter with great results.
