Maker's Mark

Post by Smatter Noguts »

God bless all.
Went drinkin' wth the bro in tow at Grand Rapids notorius dens of iniquity and discovered this was the universal bourbon in stock.
Bites on Ionia street poured me a whole fucking snifter of the stuff for 6 bucks, a generous pour by any standard.
Finishing the night with Evan Williams.
Soon will be too drunk to post.
Last print edition of MDM cuntabulous.
Love you all.

Must 2nd the Makers Praise Gorky. Last Derby Day I was in a little tavern that poured full tumblers of the stuff (no ice) for the price of a shot.

Needless to say it was a good afternoon. 8)

I wish I had some Maker's with me. I'm currently working on something called, "Most Wanted Pioneer Whisky". I'm not a fan. It tastes like this stuff might have been okay before it choked to death on a box of nilla wafers.

UPDATE: It's 8:20 AM and there's a half of the Williams left in the glass, so I'm chugging it on an empty stomach before I head into work.

I've always been a fan- even toured the distillery in Loretto, KY.

I only buy it when its on sale, however. Its good, but not 28 bucks a bottle good. My house bourbon is Evan Williams.

How does Evan compare in taste and price to Beam? I can't remember.
I might get a drink of it at the club today. What they have is green label, I think.

Beam white label is too light for me - although I certainly wouldn't turn it down if offered. Evan is aged a wee bit longer and has more of an Oak taste IMO.

Oak is cool, as long as it's not real charcoaly like TJD.

How about price??

Depends on where you live- but its typically less expensive than Beam white.

Thanks. Sounds like it's definitely worth a go.

This man speaks truth. "Most Wanted" is a brand only available in Kansas. Now, their Vodka is quite good, but this Pioneer Whiskey is "aged in a seasoned whiskey barrel". In other words, it's aged for too short a time in a used bourbon barrel and picks up far too much of the vanilla caramel taste.

Impulse purchases kick ass, generally, but I could have had a liter of Evan Black for the same price. This is a bottle that will languish at the back of the bar and gather dust for the next few years. It will slowly be drained as people come by and introductory sips are given.

Maker's, on the other hand, is a glorious beverage. And, they have the greatest ads imaginable. Dip anything in red wax, and it's a Maker's spot. The distillery tour is cool, and the place smells awesome.

I'm hung over. And by "hung over", I mean "still drunk from last night".

Makers is so damn smooth. I dig the sting of a Bookers, Bakers or 101,
but Makers is the best choice as far as introducing fellow drinkers to the Bourbon Lifestyle.

Worked this morning with no hangover, working this afternoon with a 40 oz. of Milwaukee's Best Ice.

Maker's is very smooth because it is a wheaty bourbon. I've heard that Old Fitzgerald is as well, has anyone had that?

Maker's and Elijah Craig are probably my favs for the price.
