Aren't punks, as a whole, diametrically opposed to the Boss? Mostly as a response to the enormous success of "Born in the USA" (overrated, IMO, but damn near anything would be, considering.) You can discuss amongst yourselves how much is warranted, how much is envy, and how much is a total misinterpretation of the title track (just like 90% of the bandwagon fans--probably the most misunderstood song since "Brown Eyed Girl.")

I love the Boss, make no mistake, but when it somes to being a balls to wall drinking song singer, he's got a ton of great songs to drink to - but - on the surface, and I'm not talking deep psychological bullshit, I'm talking, face to face, shot glass to mouth drinking music, I'm gonna go with George Thorogood, like I said, he's not the "I've been hurt, let's have a drink" kind of singer...no - He's the guy at the bar that you are afraid to try and keep up with. He's the guy drinking at 4 am on a weeknight, hammering 'em down like it's a Saturday night. He is our Motorhead, he is our AC DC, for crying out loud, the man has a song called "If You Don't Start Drinking, I'm Gonna Leave", this has become my own personal mantra, what the fuck does that tell you?

Rock on George, you don't get older, you just get fucking better.
BMMS is wrong.

Yes Bruce back then absolutely rocked! His concert the day after John Lennon was killed ranks as the best show I have ever seen. Then he fired the E-street band and thought he was some kind of artist and did folk songs aout old dead people from Nebraska. I half expected him to change his name to a symbol and ask to be known as the artist formerly known as Bruuuuuuuuuce. Hell the guy is from New Jersey! I think he lost his roots.
But George Thorogood never has changed. Maybe he is incapable of producing some artsy fartsy folk songs, but I like him that way. Shots of bourbon and some slide guitar.
Friendship is like peeing your pants, everyone can see it, but only you can feel the true warmth.

I just DL'd a bunch of sprinsteen so maybe when I hear it, the light of god will illuminate what I have been missing all these years. Because of a dickhead DJ on WBCN in Boston, I have a dislike for Springsteen. We'll see.

I can spit and hit highway 9. I can be in Asbury Park in less than a half hour (north of me).

I don't want to say I hate Bruce (loved Nebraska and The Ghost of Tom Joad albums) I guess I'm a well wisher, in that I don't wish him any specific harm.
On more than one occassion this conversation has led to a handful of boob."

Bruce is a good live performer, and a pretty damn good songwriter.. That being said, he's really not the person I want to hear while I'm swigging on the hooch.. I'm with Casino on that one..

BUT, I happen to think George Thorogood is a poser, a fraud, a wannabe drunkard.. I could be wrong..... but I'm not..

You see in this world there are two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

Girlfriend and mine's first date was when the Tunnel of Love tour came to the Houston Summit. I snuck in some Beam, she brought Vodka, and the Boss rocked. The Summit's a Megachurch, Girlfriend and I still together, and the Boss still rocks.

Crucial Unit has that song 'Bruce Springstine needs the workers, but the workers don't need Bruce Springstine' it's funny stuff.

Wait a minute, Brown Eyed Girl isn't about anal sex?
If that song was about anal sex, it might be one of the best songs ever.

"Hey where did we go?" They went up her ass, obviosuly.
Why else would he call her a "brown eye" girl?
