Convention Check-In Thread

Post by Mother Goose »

. . . posted here because this is a busier forum.

For those of you who may not have booked accomodations yet, Goose and I got 3 nights at the Towneplace Suites (studio room w/ kitchenette & small entertaining area, plus queen bed) PLUS an economy car rental for $280 through Expedia. We couldn't pass it up.

(HUMONGOUS thanks to Sonic Screwball and his better half for offering up their sofabed, but we had a fortunate financial change and so we decided to get our own digs . . . you're luckier this way, trust me . . . I snore REALLY loud when I'm drinking!!)

Anyway, the only thing we don't have are the con passes. Can we buy 3-day passes on the first day of the event, or will we be stuck with the day passes?

It may be a non-issue either way, since the day passes are $20 and we may not do Sunday as I have a cousin in Boulder . . . we may spend the day/evening with her (or perhaps she'll want to come to Con, in which case we'll be there).

Anyone else besides Rick & Martha at the Towneplace? Mapquest says it's only .83 miles from the venue, which is FAN-fucking-TASTIC news too.

We're getting so excited!!

That jernt's been booked for like two weeks that I know of. America hating Marxists still in town, so EVERYTHING IS BOOKED. At least it is for that Thursday - then Friday opens up. I was about to throw meself onto the mercy of a fellow hooch hound for floorspace for Thursday night, but then happened upon a wee hole in the wall with a cancellation! YAY!

EVERYTHING in downtown is booked - HOWEVER, I managed to snag a spot in the Broadway Plaza I think it's called - only a mile from the venue - nothing fancy pants, but it had good reviews, the staff I spoke with, and I believe offered carnal pleasures for the availability of the room practically stumbling distance from the scene of the sousing, were quite pleasant and professional and all for $85 bucks a night!! Staying five nights, so that's quite a coup! And a free shuttle to and from the airport! Like I might spend all told 10 hours there - so as long as the linens are clean and it ain't overrun by cucurachas and bedbugs - which, I am assured, it is not, I'm in like Flynn!

We are gonna have a good damned time of it then, aren't we?

Everybody got their fezzes? Wore mine at the swim club Saturday. It was quite a hit!

I'm just glad that there won't be any bodies of water. At MassKon, me BMMS and treetop started saucing at 8a.m. By the time we made it to Boston with steved and Girlie I was alternating between trying to jump in Boston harbor and falling asleep in my lunch.

I almost had Louie and Cec convinced to hop on the red-eye from LAX as there are fewer and fewer of us who been to every one. They have some block party thing they have to attend, but I'm betting they show.

I can personally guarantee it. I care not the opinion of others as to my comportment. For it is dignified, couth and legal - alright, mostly dignified. It is only unreasonable to the unimaginative and unadventerous. Who in his right mind would give a whit as to the thinking of such vile and banal souls? Certainly not I, certainly not my con Cons!

Shmoo - I do believe you'll be shmastified!

I had high-hopes of being there this year, but financials have fallen through and sadly I will have to play along at home. I'll have several handles of...whatever on standby to join in the revelry from afar.

Sad :(

I also will not be able to attend, but i'm really going to make a serrious attempt at next year. Should be a blast, hoping like all hell that i can attend. I still must work this weekend though so i'll be toasting all you magnificent bastards from afar and each time i look to the west with a drink in hand, i'll be downing some for you fortunate few, you band of brothers. Damn, i'm going next year, that's all there is to it.
Beer's just being social. Whiskey's drinkin'.
