Finlandia seems to be my only faux pas (other than the occasional TJD, if bought for me without my being asked...free liquor, and all).
We do keep a bottle of the traitor in the house, but it is only here because it was dressing-room swag from a well-meaning promoter. It's kept for those guests who must.
Btw, the MDM stance on JD was one of the deciding factors in my joining this forum.

Here here! I used to make this mistake, too, in my foolish youth. I believe it was FNZ who finally schooled me to the fact that Traitor Jack is not Bourbon, but rather "Tennessee Whiskey."steved2112 wrote:Indeed. For example... tjd may be brown, but Bourbon it is not.

It's time to tell you that FNZ is a fictional character, and the posts it makes on this board are generated by a machine.coqui_chris wrote:Here here! Re: Brown-Forman Product List
it's easy enough to stay away from that stuff, i never drink it anyway. I was about to try some woodford reserve though, never heard of it and it looked interesting, but now i'll stay away. Besides, there are much better whiskeys out there for alot less money. Jack is a fad, it's what drinkers who aren't real drinkers enjoy because they like to order it, makes them feel cool.
Beer's just being social. Whiskey's drinkin'.
Re: Brown-Forman Product List
Yup - think that's pretty much it, in a nut. It has the advertising budget. It's everywhere. Only tonight, I was watching the Robocop marathon on TV and TDJ is shown on screen in the scene where Robo busts the guy robbing the liquor store.bluespook wrote:Jack is a fad, it's what drinkers who aren't real drinkers enjoy because they like to order it, makes them feel cool.
Plus there's the film with Al Pacino as a blind army colonel, where he's always talking about the stuff. They have TJD t-shirts in HMV and young kids buy 'em who've never tried anything stronger than Carling. Slash of GnR is probably guilty too but maybe they gave him shit-loads of the stuff every time he's pictured with it...

When the hat and t-shirt are better than the whiskey, watch out!
Also, there's no more a joyous drinking experience than sitting in a hotel-connected T.G.I.F. (the only bar within walking distance), next to a guy wearing a Harley shirt and a JD hat, who's drinking shots of the Traitor, chased with Coors Light drafts.

Re: Brown-Forman Product List
I dont really understand this boycott. Isnt all whisky cut anyway? Spirits are good at around 40% anyway when you have it higher it doesnt taste as good its more like fuel.
edit: I will investigate, I have only drunk* McAllister Reserve so far.
*By drunk I mean had more than half a bottle. I have ried many bourbans, whiskys, whiskeys in mixers and so forth but you dont really know until you drink at least a full bottle. Not always in the same sitting either.

This may be true but, based on the fact I've talked with him, this is the only machine capable of manufacturing such a farce. I give you the Enigma...Mayhem wrote:It's time to tell you that FNZ is a fictional character, and the posts it makes on this board are generated by a machine.
why is my moral compass always pointed east? that's the direction of the nearest liquor store.

Re: Brown-Forman Product List
I like Old Forrester but I hate those big conglomerates that buy up and monopolize the distilling industry. They are only one layer of corruption that harms the quality of commercial booze most of which is just grain alcohol with flavoring oils and artificial color added, ie, fake booze. Then comes the TTB and the feds, then come the distributors . . .
It's always a good day to get ripped!

I've never come across Zima, guess it's an American thing. I've drank and really enjoyed Finlandia though - such a shame.:(Smatter Noguts wrote:So a shot of Finlandia backed with a Zima is right out?
