"Ducking for apples -- change one letter and it's the story of my life." -- Dorothy Parker
For all of their flaws, boingboing does a very good job of advocating human rights vis a vis those rights as enumerated by legal precedent. Which is to say, sometimes drunks and hippies have something they can learn from one another, this being an example.
I've met asshole cops and I've met good cops. Some cops are assholes to assholes. A few cops are assholes to anybody who doesn't wear fasionable clothing, cut their hair and shave. Me for instance. I have no doubt there are quite a few cowboys out there who just want to live out their issues by being bullies with authority, especially when I see the kind of people I grew up with who actually wanted to be cops, who have all been imbeciles.
Still, most cops I've met have been decent people. Not at all the "all cops are bastards" idea many seem to be flaunting.

I've dealt with good cops, I've dealt with cops that, for whatever reason, have decided I'm guilty of SOMETHING, and are just going to try and figure out what that is.
No offense to your profession, but I'm going to keep my guard up.
