Knappogue 12 — very nice.
Jameson IPA Caskmates — terrible, no flavor, weak dram.
That IPA Jameson was fairly disappointing. I have a vague memory of trying a stout edition Caskmates, I wanna say I remember liking it. Been just a little too long.
I personally loved it, and I I'll you why: one of the redneck dives I used to frequent (although I could go back, I just haven't) got a bottle for free from their distributor. So I come in one night, and the Thursday night bartender goes "Tipsy! Usual?" And I say yes and he says "hold on! I got something you wanna try." So my usual there is a bottle of Fantasy Factory IPA from Karben 4 brewing and a shot of Jameson. So he has the Jameson IPA. And the first shot was free. And the second. And the first the next time. And the second the next time. And over the course of a few short weeks I had a whole bottle at the bar free to me.
Good times.
Tonight it's going to be two dry dirty gin martinis. My brine-to-olive ratio is getting less than ideal, so I have to straight that out. If I get bent in the process, so much the better.

I was probably drunk when I said that, but I meant it.
The second best thing about a shot of Malört is the face the bartender makes when you order it.
Dry dirty gin martini. I picked up a sixer of Terrapin Brewery Hopsecutioner on my way to work and may or may not break into that. Or maybe just stick to gin cocktails for the evening. This time of year I work six days a week, 60+ hours, and I haven't had time for a proper liquor store run. I really need to stock up on the essentials.

Tonight it's Ardbeg 10, my go-to scotch, drinking especially to celebrate Repeal Day! Cheers to you magnificent bastards.

High West double rye, neat. Cheers and happy Friday!
Do you regularly drink whiskey neat? It's my only way. I never mix or add ice.
Almost always. I enjoy a hot toddy now and then. I like mixing hard cider and rye. Bourbon and coffee is fun. Bloody marys have their time and place. But yeah, usually neat.

I once looked up hot toddy recipes to get me through a cold. I didn't make them. Just continued sipping neat.

yeah, once you get a good hot toddy recipe it becomes your go-to. Mine is Rye whiskey, hot spiced apple cider, a teaspoon of honey and a cinnamon stick to stir and flavor. Gets me through any and every type of cold.
Right now I'm drinking the last of my barleywines, while waiting for DoorDash to deliver our Peruvian food.
I'm trying to convince myself not to go out to the bar tonight. I've been depressed lately and everyone's worried.
Been trying to shake off The Blues for two months now. maybe I should just listen to some Son House and just let that old drunken master lull me to sleep. Start over again tomorrow.

But the womens and whiskey, well, they would not let me pray" - Son House
You ain't gotta worry about shit. YOu shook of the blues before. You'll do it again. That's what booze does, it lifts. It does not depress. Unless you force it to.
