Picked up a bottle of Four Roses -- going to do a little bourbon experimentation and I've never had this one before.

Enjoying it while reading these tasting notes.

I can pick the aspects out after reading them, but really suck at coming up with them by myself.

My terrible sense of smell definitely doesn't help.
Meeh, your sense of smell and taste are probably fine. I almost stopped drinking one of my favorite whiskeys because some lady in the checkout line tried to "school" me on tasting notes. Thank god I shrugged off her annoyance and kept on trucking. In the end, it's all nonsense.

A 'Tasting Note' is a concept created by some pretentious creative who wanted to find greater purpose in drinking, other than to just simply drink. I've heard tasting notes of "leather" and "moss," when has leather and moss ever tasted GOOD? Unless you were a member of the Donner family, I doubt either of those were ever considered delicious.

Sipping a baltic porter from Harpoon. Weighing in at 9.5%, this has been aged in Whistle Pig rye barrels and is quite the tasty treat. A little on the sweet side, reminds me of a milk stout in a way. Happy I tried it.

Elijah Craig small batch at 94 proof. On sale for $24.99

It's not a chugger. It opens up with a little bit of water. Gargling that with water really involves the sinuses in a good way.
I got my EW bourbon as a chaser, ya know, for the health benefits.

What happened to the Kraken? Did you drink it all, matey? You're a drunken pirate and will always be one!
Found myself in the Matrix and took the red pill. Now I want the blue pill and my bottle and leave me alone.

Odell Brewing Co. DDH IIPA.

I was probably drunk when I said that, but I meant it.

The second best thing about a shot of Malört is the face the bartender makes when you order it.

A very tasty American stout for breakfast.

Picked up a bottle of Russell's Reserve 10 yesterday that I'll crack into this evening. Excited -- it should be a good day off.

Two shots of Svedka and about to crack open a Death by King Cake from Oskar Blues Brewery. I have high expectations.

Wild Turkey rye. Weaksauce. The Russell's Reserve 10 was fantastic, however.

Splurged on a bottle of Noah's Mill.

Damn this is a nice bourbon. Packs a solid punch at 57% too. Daddy likes.

Tipsy Sailor, you'd dig this one, going by your post about antique campfire furniture.

So far went for a Negroni with Brokers' Gin, Campari, and Carpano Antiqua red vermouth. Probably have a beer or two before bed. Gotta get up early and get all the weekend chores done in one day since I have a date on Saturday. I really wanted a martini, but I forgot to get dry vermouth.

I had a shot of grappa, a bud light, and 2 margaritas. This was at work during happy hour.

Now I'm at home, finishing off this bottle of Redemption Rye

I still mourn the death of Wild Turkey's 101 Rye. It was like drinking leather and smoke. And then one day, it just up and vanished. I have no idea why it never came back to the general public.

But I pour a short dram of the cheap stuff out for the dead homie. R.I.P.
