The trifecta of red wine, chocolate (some prefer dark and some prefer milk), and the right cheese is a wonderful thing.

Would not work at all with white wine.

When I go camping (with or without grandchildren) Saturday night is as follows:

RibEye Steak Rare/Medium
Corn on the cob wrapped in foil over the fire.
Whatever else the clan prepares.
1 bottle (just for me) of a decent Cabernet.

Followed up with finishing the said decent Cabernet with a bar of Ghiradelli Milk Chocalate. Sip a mouthful of cab, insert chunk of chocolate let it mix and melt and swallow, repeat.

When bottle is empty, slide under the coals of the campfire, return next morning with a coffee/whisky cup and see if its possible to retrieve the bottle in one piece. Most often not but some times it works.
Everyone who knows me knows that is how Saturday Nite Camping will be for me.
