Say no to facebook, say yes to Dickel rye.
It's worked for me and it'll work for you.
I grabbed a bottle of Dickel off the liquor store shelf but I didn't notice until I got it home that it wasn't rye. Actually, I didn't notice until I showed the bottle to Patchez on Skype and he told me that what I had was not rye. Turns out that the liquor store keeps the Dickel rye behind the counter. I think I'll get one tomorrow. Can you recommend a beer to go with it?
I would say a good scotch ale. Or go with a cheap lager. I don't think Genesee is out your way but maybe Pabst. I've never had it but I'm guessing Hamms would work. Hell even Miller Low Life wouldn't be out of place. Dickel makes good stuff, whatever you choose it'll be fun.
Well, shit. No Dickel rye at the liquor store, not even at CVS. Is Dickel rye an east coast thing? I got a bottle of Templeton rye for $34. But for now I'll be drinking Natural Ice. Will get to the Templeton later tonight.

WTF??? Could have sworn I'd seen the word "Templeton" regularly in this thread, but a search reveals it has not been mentioned since December of 2019.

Anyway, I'm sipping it neat, like I always drink whiskey, and I like it.

It looks like Badfellow thinks it makes a good Manhattan.

I say who the hell has time to make a Manhattan when you're trying to get drunk.

EDIT TO ADD: It even looks better in the glass than does my cheap whiskey. Nice and bright and clear.

I'm splurging on the expensive stuff because money has been falling into my lap all year. Stimulus bucks, settlement bucks, stock market bucks. My bank account is at an all time high even after going on an online shopping spree at my local bookstore. I know I'm supposed to save money - the stats don't lie and I'm well below the median net worth for my age group and I ain't got too many more working years ahead of my 55-year-old ass. But, fuck, it's Templeton rye!

Working my way through the bottles that have just a little left. The ones that refuse to die are now dying.

Great, Hugh jumps ass first into a lake of rye whiskey and I'm nowhere to be found.

I'm surprised there's no Dickel Rye where you are, I wasn't under the impression it was an East Coast thing, but maybe it is. Redemption is a good go-to for me. Just be sure it says "Rye" and not "High Rye Bourbon". The high rye bourbon they offer is good too, but surprising when you're not expecting the corn taste of bourbon to hit you.

Templeton is good to...I think i had it maybe once or twice. Maybe now's a good time to revisit.

Made my own spin on a frozen Paloma. Usually a Paloma includes something along the lines of ruby red grapefruit, lime, tequila, simple syrup, and Sprite. Full recipe here.

But I improvved and used blood orange juice instead of a grapefruit, added triple sec, added a shit ton more tequila, and omitted the Sprite. Don't have a name for it yet but it is quite a beaut. And deeelicious. Yes, I know it's in a whiskey glass. We ain't fancy and tall glasses and I don't mix well. But the picture in the original recipe is also in a low baller. And yes the lime took a nose dive into the drink. I had to rescue it.
