Up at 6:30, at work by 8:30 (long fucking commute). Enjoying my first and last beverages of the evening - damn, this coaching hockey is cutting into my drinking time.

I get up at 4:45 3 days a week. It sucks, but it also doesn't suck. The trick is to enjoy the morning/hangover as best you can, and still drink the night before/the next morning.

I've outsmarted my schedule. I went to sleep when I got off at 4PM, then I woke up at 1AM. Now I'm drinking BEFORE I go in(I'll be alone for 5 hours). Much more pleasurable.

When I worked day shift at a nursing home, I had to get up at 4:00 to be there by 5:30. It completely sucked. I was younger then.

I have to get up at 5 am for a 6:30 shift on Friday, Saturday, Sunday for 3 weeks every other month. Confusing swing schedule. It SUCKS. I have a job where you really can't be too hungover, lots of quick thinking and technical shit. Sucks so bad. 5 a.m. is just too damn early. I used to get up at 5 all the time when I was a commercial fisherman, but that was different. We'd usually crack our first beers of the day around 9 a.m...

Years ago I was a school bus driver, my first route starting at 5:30 AM. I would say to the kids "okay, we're going to stop to get coffee and donuts, but you don't get any." They eventually figured out how to bribe me with money.

On the bright side, I was done by 2:30 in the afternoon, just in time to catch the start of happy hour.
