He was taken off of life support and passed away this morning.

I was fortunate to meet him once; he struck me as a realistic and no-bullshit kinda guy and it's doubtful an earthier, funnier, more self-deprecating person ever lived. Despite whatever baggage he might have carried because of his physical stature, he sure didn't let it come across publicly.
