Just one day before those assholes stole our Halloween display, two guys got shot dead in an apartment on the east side of town. I know, because I was just strolling back with my ice cream, when all hell broke loose and suddenly, there was cop car after cop car, slamming the turn at 100 miles an hour. Then came the fire truck and finally, the ambulance. I watched some bodies get loaded, while the security guard at the Big Lots told me that he sees a lot of such stuff. The whole neighborhood has gone to hell, he said. He told me it was people moving down here from L.A. Well, that was his opinion. He was an old man, and he's lived here a long time, so I guess he has some basis for comparison. All I know is, we shoulda got out of here when we had the chance. Grumpy knows best, though. So here we are.
