I know we touched on this a bit in a thread a few weeks ago, but i like collecting and compartmentalizing our drunkard knowledge. So let's have 'em!
- I like putting the lid on the edge of a table and smacking down on the top of it. Very dynamic and masculine.
- If you don't mind a bit of spillage, the hole in a door frame where the latch rests is the perfect opener shape, just be quick and watch out for the spray.
- I've never gotten the "other bottle" trick to work, anyone wanna give detailed instructions?

Using molar teeth or finding a gap in some rocks to wedge the bottle in, and hope the glass doesn't shatter. Luckily I've not resorted to neither in the past few years given I now have a keyring with a bottle opener on it for such eventualities.

I've worn one of these for many many years. You can wear it on planes believe it or not.

And afterwords we can run amok! Or if you're too tired, we can walk amok.

Re: Opening a beer bottle without an opener
I actually learned a couple days ago how to open a bottle useing a bic lighter. Earlier this month I cut my thumb useing a knife so I wanted to learn the bic lighter trick and it worked. Its about holding ur index pointer finger under the cap, putting the lighter inbetween the cap and ur finger, with the lighter pointing up slanted and pushing the lighter down whilesqueezeing and pushing with ur finger. this is the best video to learn how. watching this youtube video is how I learned how to do it, after hearing about other people doing it.

who the hell doesn't have a bottle opener? I have like three on my keychain, a carabiner which can be used, and four at home.

Re: Opening a beer bottle without an opener
There are lots of beer opening tricks posted on youtube. My favorite one can be done with basically anything, you place an object under the cap and hold it with the same hand holding the top of the beer, and then whack the object from the bottom with the other hand in an upwards swing, cap flies right off.

greatest invention ever: churchkey wit a magnet stuck to it so it's right there on the fridge. i also have openers randomly tucked in spots around the house. the ringamajig is a great opener if a bit chunky to wear. when i'm out and about i like to wear my "party necklace" under my outer layer; an old school schaefer churchkey on a guinness lanyard.
always be prepared.

Re: Opening a beer bottle without an opener
The lighter is the #1 method over here, everybody does it. Many carry lighters first and foremost for the sake of opening beer and secondly for arson.
I don't carry one usually. And if I want to set fire to anything i use matches, so I often have to improvise. Yesterday I tried to open one using the door frame latch trick, but there was no lower edge, meaning I had to do it horizontaly. I took the risk and beer shot everywhere, and across the room splurting all over the wall.
