What about the entire state of Utah, with their "near-beer" bullshit? When I was a teenager, admittedly some years ago, you had to drive to Evanston, Wyoming to get beer that wasn't at half-strength. Yes... Budweiser at 2.2% ABV.

That map is incorrect, as far as ohio is concerned.i know for a sciantific fact that there are completely dry counties in the SE portion of ohio. but mny county is cool we got it all.

I heard that in Washington state there are all kind of weird controls, kind of like Canada.

and back in the olden days of the seventies, my brother and I went into a liquor store in Indiana to buy gum and got cussed out and thrown out by the clerk. for two kids from California, this was quite a shock.

What I don't get is that if those laws exist, it means the people wanted them, but why? Why would a community not want to drink or would not want anyone to be allowed to drink. Who would vote those laws or elect the people who create them?

Boozy, in Texas, these people are known as "Baptists". ;-) I was raised as one, sadly. I took the cure about 25 years ago, praise Jesus.

In the town where I live, you can buy beer and wine but not liquor. In the next town over, just a couple of years ago, they voted to allow liquor sales for the first time since the place was founded. Shockingly, the citizens don't appear to be fornicating in the streets or murdering each other any more than they were before.

Interestingly, I don't think you can buy beer or wine before 12 pm on Sunday anywhere in Texas. Liquor stores can't open on Sundays and no retail liquor sales are allowed. You can drink beer, wine, and liquor in restaurants and bars, though. Monday through Friday, retail stores have to stop selling all alcohol at midnight and can't start again until 7 am. Saturday night they can sell until 1 am and can't start up again till Sunday noon. Bars and restaurants can sell until 1 am Monday through Friday and until 2 am Saturday night, I believe, though I could be wrong there...that limit might be 2 am all week. Don't remember.

Many Americans, and many Texans, seem to be confused about where religion stops and politics start. Thus, the above. And other things.

That's in South Dakota. There's probably 6 people in the entire county.
