I don't want to say that I'm surprised, but I am.

Terrific news. Well done Maker's Mark.

I'm glad I only bought one bottle to lay down for future exploitation.

The future just got a lot nearer.

...and did they actually make any of the lowered proof version?

What's to be done with that stuff?

I somehow feel vindicated in my stance against a boycott. So much so that I've posted it twice.

I reckon if it hasn't been bottled yet they could probably blend it back in to another batch. If it is bottled I reckon it will probably be sold at auction or to specialist stores

I am also surprised, and happy to hear that someone actually listens to their consumers.

And they should give the lower proof stuff away free to their ambassadors. I've never thrown a full bottle across the street.

I'd watch that, full bottles always make a lovely "sploosh" sound. There was an art gallery in glasgow showed a short film of full bottles being dropped from the roof of a pop factory that had just shut down and I thought it was brilliant

The appreciation of MM's ardent consumers has been redeemed. And now, dedication to the brand has been cemented. Well played. Yes, on my way to grab a bottle. Save the lower alc ones you may have for a future sale on eBay. "Keep it in it's original container."

This is great news. I am surprised. But then again I am only surprised because they actually did the right thing. I went through my 2 bottles of Bulleit this weekend and honestly, it is not as good, worth drinking but not MM. Everyone take a shot on me.

damn, you guys are fast. my thoughts were, in this order, "YOU'RE GODDAMN RIGHT!" followed by, "i should tell the drunkards," followed by, "i'll bet those handsome devils already know," and finally, "sonsabitches are faster than i am once more!" very, very surprised that they actually listened, but i'm not one to question a good thing. good times.

Even Jenny McCarthy was lampooning their decision to reduce the proof on her show (she has a show?).

If any of the weaker stuff was actually produced, they'll probably just sell it in Utah.

One is forced to wonder if the whole thing was not, perhaps, some kind of publicity stunt...?

I had started to think that, but I think I was just being paranoid
